First Dressage Type Lesson

My lovely YO talked me into having my first dressage type lesson this evening with Jack. Now in the school he's a bit of a lazy b*ggar and I would normally ride with a schooling whip or small little blunt spurs. My dilema this morning is should I do either for this lesson?

I want to get my monies worth and not make too much of a show of myself infront of this top rider blokey but on the other hand I don't want him going off on one about me riding with the aids. I'm bloody nervous truth be told.
