I've been a long time lurker on here, occasionally but really just like being nosey at whats going on. But as i'm rather pleased with my little horses and most of my friends and family are non horsey i felt the need to tell you guys.

On Saturday me and my little horse finally got round to doing out first elementary dressage test. We've played about at Novice BD for a few years now training at home up to advanced medium. But anyone who knows my horse knows how difficult he can be, he likes to improvise his own movements into the tests just to keep me on my toes. Now hes 12 and finally grown up and i've finally got my own transport i've decided to crack on with competing. Made ourselves a goal of qualifying for the Area Festival which we did straight away, so i then decided it was time to put our brave pants on and do our first elementary. Entered packed my lorry all ready to go and i get a phone call to say he's come in from the field lame, so £40.00 lighter i had to withdraw. 2 days later he was sound as a pound and very annoyed that he'd had to days off

With the Area festival this weekend i had a mad dash to get an entry in somewhere. I noticed Aintree equestrian had unaffiliated on so i got a late entry in and off we went. After a minor incident with a twisted show! swear this horse does it on purpose.

He warmed up ok not as nice as he can do but he felt he was on side so in we went. And what a superstar he was. A bit spookey going round the arena, i did think oh here we go but as soon as we went down the centre line he meant business. Apart from 2 rather large 15 metre circles and a modest free walk all down to rider error my little horses did one of the best tests hes ever done. I came out with a huge smile on my face. When i went to get my mark everyone was moaning at how mean the judge had been but in all fairness i wasn't to bothered as i felt he'd gone well. To my surprise we had over 68% and a 2nd place in a very hotley contended class. To say i'm over the moon would be an undertsatement. Just hope we can keep it up next weekend.

Sorry for the rather long pointless and self indulgent post. Thanks for listening.
Debbie

ahhh lovely result. Well done for getting out there at last :) So frustrating when things just go wrong out of your control. Fingers crossed he keeps his shoes on for the AF- good luck next week.
