HHOSS Wonder Woman
Today I took the beast to Coombelands for the ODE. My friend had very kindly said she'd take him round the 90, which is great as he's lost his confidence a little with me as I'm rather nervy jumping, and he's a sensitive soul!
Bad news first, I broke 3 nails today so my fingers are slightly sore, I also have a raging headache probably from dehydration.
We got to Coombelands very early, it was busy but we found a space and I took the hats off to the secretary to get them tagged and pick up the numbers. We fitted the new micklem bridle, and S hopped on and went down to the dressage. As usual, G warmed up beautifully, then started squealing with excitement when he went into the arena, S contained him despite a few bucks being threatened and he did a nice test, if a little tense. Felt like ages to wait until the SJ, so I put the kettle on and we had a quick cuppa before changing tack.
S popped a couple of fences in the warmup, and her mum and I went off to check the scores, we ended up missing half her sj round but did get there in time to see G roll a pole. Luckily it was the only one, S said he was much more controllable than last week which is partly him settling and partly having more control with the bridle. Her dressage score was 34.75 which is pretty damn good.
There had been a few holds on the xc course but by the time we got down there it was back on schedule, and in fact they ended up heading off early. I saw fences 1 to 5 before she went off around the corner and disappeared into the next field, 2 minutes later they were back and I saw the final line, they were flying it, ears pricked and in a fantastic rhythm. My biggest worry had been G's fitness, well he looked full of running and as though he could have gone round a second time! Their time was 4:47 but of course we didn't know what the optimum had been - we later found out it was 4:54 so she couldn't have been much closer!
S had the biggest grin on her face, and said that was the best xc round she has ever had, he gave her a fantastic ride, and she did the same for him.
Back to the scoreboard, and it was looking likely that she was going to be placed on her total score of 38.75...The last few results took an age to come through but well chuffed with her placing of 7th out of a class of 32
Very proud of both her and my boy, they are a great pair!
