so who's gonna brave the 1st of march to start eventing and where are you all heading? myself, i live about 45 mins from stilemans but am toying with travelling to isleham just to chase the ground, am sure nothing in the south will get going again if this weather keeps up. i then intend to head off to gatcombe then hopefully hambleden, my neddy likes the soft ground so i try and find the best for him.

not doing the 1st, all to far really.... be at Oasby the following wkend though

I never choose Stilemans as it seems like it never runs!

I want to go to Isleham, but think my first will be Poplar Park OPN

Athough Stilemans and Tweseldown are closer to me I aim to start the season at Isleham and then Poplar. This is due to the going / possibility of cancellation, balloting (esp Tw) and the volume of professional riders.

oh,do Stilemans tend to cancel if too wet then??is it an easy PN 4 start of season?
It was either this or t.down???.I must re-reg as entries prob open soon??

We always go to Isleham, last year it was very wet and they had to tow people out, year before -8 and all jumping delayed for 3 hours, it was snowing too! Lovely when it whips across the fens, we had sideways rain last year too, remind me, why do I go there?

On the plus side, although wet and a bit deep it doesn't get that slippy.

Beware though the course builder likes nasty surprises and builds quite a tough course. last year you had to jump a log in the middle of the water in PN. That question is not usually found until later on Nov or Int.

I am planning to enter Oasby, Lincoln and Belton in the hope that I'll get a run at two out of the three, though that's probably wildly over optimistic.
With the baby horse I would like it to get a run at Oasby but I haven't had an opportunuity to XC school it yet and doubt that I will before then. We'll just have to find some water to paddle through (that shouldn't be difficult at the moment!). On the basis that it will probably want more than one intro before going PN I will then have to wait until Kelsall Hill to give it another run.
On the issue of ground, both horses are well hunted in deep mud so as long as the event runs then so shall I....

You're on your own this year Thistle! Apart from the fact I'm on gate-shutting duty for our hunt on the Saturday, I decided that I'm not that desperate to start and can wait another week for Oasby.

Probably somewhere in the soggy Belgian countryside in March

. Or if I really pull my finger out maybe the * at Fontainebleau, although it would an expensive and long trip to find out Liberty's decided to forget everything he learnt last year!

Yeah am aiming for Stafford to be my second run of the season...has been lovely both times been before, although yet to complete as either been fence judging or falling off

B&W bound to lose at least one day - they have for the past couple of years!

I'm off to Aldon as the first one, then prob Belmont. Cannot wait, am v excited (though not excited enough to have spent out on rereg yet!!)

I'm planning for Tweseldown, Goring Heath and then Ebbesbourne Wake at PN.
I was going to do Hambledon but i've now booked tickets for a dance music camping weekend at Alton Towers!!!! lol!!
