I will hopefully be attending my first ever fun ride in February. I have had my horse since september last year and this will be his first outing and possibly his first fun ride. Does anyone have any advise to help keep us both calm on the day?

Go really early and be the first to set off (only if you are going to go at a decent pace so you don't get overtaken too much). Or go last. Either way not as busy than going at peak time! Have fun :)

Last is good, then you can make sure you don't get overtaken at all.
Going with a friend on a sensible horse who can nanny you is a big help too.
Hope it goes well

I would agree with the early start, warm up and then start with a good working trot for the first few miles. Rescue remedy pastilles are great :). Most healthy horses, suitably mounted, with good fitting tack, won't find this a problem. A carton of apple juice added to the horses water, can encourage them to have a drink, once done. Have fun (oh and wear comfy underwear :) )
