This is my first ever post, how exciting. Looking forward to help and listening to tips from everyone!

I was just wondering, if i was to do some jumping with my horse, and set out 4 jumps, how many steps would i need to do in between the jumps if i wanted..
1st jump as 1 stride in between
2nd jump as 2 strides in between
& 3rd jump as a bounce?

I get so confused with the steps!

each stride is 4 normal or slightly longer than normal (if you are a bit smaller than other) steps generally (varies from horse to horse and the length of a persons stride though!). You also need 2 steps for the landing and 2 for the takeoff.

So for you:
1st jump = 8 steps (2 landing, 4 stride, 2 takeoff)
2nd jump = 12 steps
3rd jump = 4 steps!

Hey and welcome!

I was going to say the same as Snowysadude, the only thing I can add is to imagine your step as a yard distance and try keep them even as possible!

My instrcutor use to set grids out for me alot so I could establish my strides, she would set the distances out correctly as Snowysadude said, then she would add on/take off a yard here and there and get me to ride it as a big stride, or shorten it to chip in an extra stride! xx
