Had the wonderful Paul Jackson out today, UKNHCP and RSS. Firstly what a lovely man! So kind with my old lady and took his time with her. She likes him already!
Then he examined her at walk and looked over all her feet.
Here is the results and a happy pony

And a UKNHCP trimmer it says on the trimmer searching? :/ he does others on my yard too so thought he'd be best to go with since he's had that training

Ahhh! Good point :) cheers. I was thinking I was going crazy..and imagining things :O
Well all I can definatly say is I'm a very satisfied client and learnt a lot today as well :)

Paul is brilliant :D
He's just put shoes on my mare (don't shoot me, this is a cushings horse who is very difficult to manage) and it's so reassuring to me that when I decide to have her shoes off again (probably October) he will just say "okay, no problem". Fab fab fab :)

:D :D
I'm completely for the individual horse and my lady is a cushings lady too so if Paul advised maybe shoes back on I'd agree with him.
Lady up in where I used to live now has his email :) she's got three barefoot!

When you put barefoot trimmer in the title i thought  as I know him as also being able to hot/cold shoe a horse too, guess he's now got a few more letters after his name now :D

Sorry for the confusion haha! That's just how ill be using him as, he shoes another on the yard and trims another :) I'm glad to have someone like him though since if we do need shoes again then he can also do that too :D.
Don't know why I typed RSS(registered shoeing smith?) in the first post haha..should have just put farrier. :P

For the sake of clarity: Paul is a qualified and registered farrier. (RSS is the qualification that predates the DipWCF.) He is also a practitioner, instructor and examiner for the UKNHCP. Hope this helps :)

And if he wasn't a UKNHCP practitioner, instructer and examiner I'm sure you would all have had something to say on the trimming of those frogs!

Tedmunster, the OP is pleased with the trim which suggests the horse was not made sore by it; trimming frogs is not a complete no-no, it is appropriate in some cases (such as thrush - which it looks like the horse may have). Trimming frogs is a judgement call, and if the horse is sound afterwards then we can generally assume the farrier/trimmer's judgement was not suspect.

Yep :)
That's why I was so satisfied, she used to walk off after a trim abit sore and had to stay in for a day. After Paul's trim she hasn't taken a sore step.

Been reading this thread with interest as I am seriously thinking about changing my foot care practitioner. I have just looked Paul up on the UKNHCP website and imagine my delight to find out I'm in his area. Thanks for the info OP, I'm glad you were happy.

Had a podiatrist come out Thursday.
What a difference to the farrier.:)

Lovely man called Trevor. Took the time to explain things and actually do something about the reoccurring chip/hole/crack on one of her fronts.

She has "seedy toe/WLD" yet the farrier before said it was nothing just down to her feet being long.

I wonder how long it would have been allowed to go on? He had been out twice to trim her.
She has great feet according to Trevor so feeling well pleased.

Have to say thank you to all on here posting about hooves.:)
Sorry to say without this forum it would never have occurred to me to not trust the farrier and to do some research myself.

Greylegs I'd had so many people recommend him to me. 100% have faith in him with my ladies hooves.

AIP- I have luckily always had good farriers who have always told me the goings on in her feet. Paul is my third farrier now but before That I lived in a different area so old farrier can't travel down here and first farrier has had a lot of legal troubles(un related to shoeing/farriery) and has now been taken off Farriery Registry :/ but that is worrying definatly what you've been through. Least you've got it sorted now! :) best of luck
