Well as some of you know i have had 4 hours private lessons.

So yesterday i had a lesson in the school so today i went down and we went for a ride through the forest and it was amazing i loved every minute of it, My riding was so much better today.

Then on the way back my RI horse was being abit antsy about passing a farmer herding his sheep into a transport trailer thing(sorry dont know what there called) anyway RI got her sorted she started to pass and my horse was fine we were passing with not even a sniffle of a problem then as Hen(my horse) just got passed the front of the trailer the farmer jumped in the transport trailer and all the metal floor banged loudly and hen spooked and took of a little i tried to grab my kneck strap but it was no hope and i fell to the floor.

I havnt hurt myself, to my suprise as 6ft is a long way down but the farmer didnt even come over or ask how i was, he didnt even stop his bloody dog running all over! Flaming idiot. I just shouted to him "Yes im Fine thanks for asking" So he put his hand up at me the cheeky git!

How ever i did get back on and finish my lesson so was pleased with myself for that, i may be sore tomorrow tho

Sorry you fell off, but congratulations you did! Every rider has a fall, or a few (in my cas FAR too many to mention) and the first is often the most nerve racking, now thats over you can look forward to more riding.
Keep up the good work, and keep us updated of how you are getting on.

Ps, Naughty cheeky farmer and hope you won't be too achey tomorrow.

Poor you and what a stupid farmer  Well done for getting back on. Falling off isn't so bad is it ;) Hope your not to sore tom.
I can sympatise with you alittle. I didn't fall off a horse (well not yesterday anyway ;) :p :D) but I fell off my pushbike, well kind of threw myself off (Long story) and now have bruses all up my leg, my hip hurts and i've had a headache since yest. Think I'd better stick to the horses as I seem to stay on them better. :p :D :D
Have a long soak in a nice hot bath tonight I find that always helps me be less stiff after a fall. :)

There you go, it's out of the way now:D

I fell off in my third ever lesson, so you did better than me;)

Sorry you fell off.
I had my first fall the other week of my lad, we had been jumping and he thought doing it a few times was quite enough and I sort of went through it!!! It was only about 2'6" but to me thats huge, and he's only 14.1hh so not far to fall :) (Even though I did cry :() But like you I got back on had the jump put to a cross and went round again :D

Owch and congratulations on your first fall. Can't quiet remember how many they say makes you a true rider but I'm must to be the best rider ever the amount of times I eaten dirt!!!:p

I got told seven... I'm still only on four though:( Mind you four in 15-odd years is not too bad a strike rate:D

Well done OP for getting back on!!!

I`m dreading my next fall...I havent a tumble since I was 11 and i`m not as flexible as i was then! :(

Thanks, my hubby said he was soo proud of me for getting back on cos he would of hated me to walk away from something im really loving because some farmer is a idiot!

the horse i ride is Hen he is well huge from his feet to his back must be about 6ft something lol so was a big boy to fall off for my first fall! I felt so sorry for hen he was so subdued after like he was upset (if you know what i mean) I gave him a hug on my way out and fussed him loads but I felt awful at how sad he looked....Poor Boy! It Wasnt his or my fault was the idiot that thought it was humorous to scare the poor bugger!

I was told 7 falls and you can call yourself a rider- personally I've lost count- not something I'm boasting about!

I've just got back into riding after a long break and touch wood haven't fallen off yet, but almost wish it would happen so I can get over it and move on- just wish i could choose when it happens ie in a lesson in a school with no one watching- but the instructor to help scrape me up and catch the horse!

Congratulations and well done for getting back on and having a cheeky go at the farmer (as a farmers daughter I can say that!).

well atleast nobodys hurt :)
I fell off on saturday :( first time in.. 6 months. I seem to fall off quite frequently... think ive lost my super glue :p But i say fell off, it was more throwing myself off really, me trying to be smart tried to close the menage gate while mounted (nobody else was around) but horse was a fidget bum and understandably didnt want to stand in the puddle by the gate. She wouldnt stand still for me to dismount so i tried when she was fidgeting, *i thought i* took my feet out of the stirrups, swung right my leg over, saddle slipped, right foot actually came out of the stirrup, im in a puddle, horse buggered off to the other end of the school. Nice one

Radox bath for soaking aching bits.

Arnica for bruising.

Chocolate for the soul.

:D

Glad you're alright hun :D

Mrs Mozart, this is truly a motto to live life to. I LOVE it!

I didn't feel like a real rider until I fell off again in my 3-4th lesson. I then proceeded to do it twice in less than an hour.

Hope the aches don't catch up with you, and that your lovely new hat didn't take a knock. It's horrible having to replace them when they still look so new!

Well done for getting back on! When I was younger I was hacking a young rather short pony out when he was spooked by a large JCB rattling towards us. Pony took off across the park we were in and promtly swiped me off under a low hanging tree branch (to be fair - I ducked and the pony bucked). Pony high-tailed it off home and I picked myself up to walk. Farmer on the JCB had stopped to watch and was wetting himself laughing! No sympathy, but to be fair everyone involved, including my friend, who was neither use nor ornament as she was laughng so much!

My hat didnt take a knock thankgod otherwise id of bloody invoiced the farmer for it, what a fool! i took the brunt of it to my right leg tbh and iv got abit of a ache in my lower back but i get a bad back alot due to a car accident years ago so think the falls just annoyed the nerve  Will have a nice radox later and a early night so hopefully i will be fine tomorrow, well as another rider said back at the school, welcome to the club :D hahaha!

Someone told me years ago that you weren't a real horse rider until you had fallen off at least 9 times!! I must admit i have stopped counting (make me sound like a ribbish rider!)

The worst fall i had was on a beach ride in france where the horse lost her footing as a wave went out and she went over in the shallows of the sea with me still sat on her, she tried to stand up and stood on my calf (i didn't want to let go of her reins). Anyway apart from the lovely horse shoe imprint in my leg we were both fine and i re mounted and off we went. The bay of biscay in January is cold though.

Also had a fall cross country which destroyed my riding hat but i just got a few bruises.

Anyway OP good on you for getting back on!!

some farmers are really inconsiderate. i have a sheep field behind my horses field and it doesnt matter what time of day i go over hes there in his tractor screaming at the dog, tooting his horn and trying to round up the sheep ( one of his sheep dropped dead while he did this ) and he just drove straight past it. my girl just stops dead in her tracks and shakes, cant do anything with her poor lass,
i tell you it really makes my blood boil as after that trying to school is impossible ,so i can really sympathise with you as im just waiting for that moment when my girl snaps and bolts and i fall out the side door :(

glad your ok and the horse is too :)

!

I was told 20 falls!!!

Well done for getting back on OP :D I find the more I fall off the more confident I get, weirdly enough! You get to the stage where you just pick yourself up and go 'Oh ffs, not again!' and it's no longer a scary horrible thing looming in the future!

My most recent fall was straight into an area of mud so thick, I lost one welly (but kept hold of Shy). Because of said mud, I couldn't manage to get back on again (only 14.2 !) and had to make use of the fence at the end of the field.

The saddle was all mud squishy cos of my mud covered jods, I couldn't get my feet in the stirrups cos of the mud, and I had a rather muddy, gritty taste in my mouth.

Shy was oblivious to it all - he was too busy looking at the black and white calf he'd spooked at ;) Shy is very sharp, and a baby, so we part company reasonably regularly.

Happy days, eh.....well done for getting back on ! sm x

well Im feeling much better, I wasn't bothered about the fall it made me feel a little better cos i thought it would hurt more falling from that hight but i was fine.

Iv had a lovely hot radox bath and had my tea followed by strawberries and cream and treat myself to a new whip and bough hen some spearmint treats for when i go see him next week.

Its odd i feel alittle closer to Hensley after coming off him, he didnt leave me he stood looking at me and i gave him a big squishy hug and kiss before i left cos he looked down in the dumps :D Loves him too much:p

Congratulations :p

Sorry you fell off, but it had to happen sometime and at least you're alright, and well done for getting back on :) my first instructor told me you're not a proper rider until you've come off at least 10 times.
