Please give me your honest opinions. Hes actually 2 1/2 in the picture as took the photo at the end of last summer. His dam is ID,by Hangon Johnny,Her dam is full sister to Anglesey Diamond. His sire is Zanzibar ( Oklund ). Currently standing about 16.1 ish. He jumps everything in sight, the fencing, the arena fence. You name it he jumps it.Never been able to keep in a field.
If they enjoy jumping like he does, does it naturally follow that they enjoy jumping with a rider on board.
Thinking of backing him next year, thoughts ????

love him!! did you get him from castell sports horses in wales? i'm going there to look at youngsters this weekend and i would love one by zanzibar - what sort of temperament does your boy have?

His dad is zanzibar, out of my ID mare. i bought his sister from castell sports horses to keep him company. They both have amazing temperaments. So easy and ultra loving. the other thing they have in common - my word can they jump!! You wont be disappointed. Mandy & Mark are fantastic and will help you choose the right one. Just tell them what you want !! Youll have a great day. Make sure you post pictures of your new arrival.

Dont know how but just spotted this. My daughter has had three geldings by Oklund. All amazing jumpers! This is her latest, now 5, amazing resemblance to yours. Good luck with him:)

What a lovely horse, you must be so proud. Backing next year, as long as he isnt going through all the growing phase. I would be doing all sorts of things preparing him for it through the winter. Introducing him to a saddle, and bridle, walking him out and about in it, standing on blocks grooming him, leaning over him, etc etc. Makes the last step so easy like that.

If I was being ULTRA critical, would say he is maybe a fraction too short in back and neck (Which might be an illusion as he is growing and back un is up at moment), but he has a fantastic front end on him, and powerful hind end, and lovely kind eye. One to be really proud of

Agree with you, he is short in the back, i dread the day he throws a buck !

Thanks for the comments, its all to easy to see what you want to see.

Updated picture took this morning, hes now 3 1/2 and has filled out a little too much. So hes going to be sent away to start his education in 2 weeks, then turned away for the winter, and then restarted in spring.

I purposely havent done much with him, just the usual handling. i lunged him once for about 1 min each side and he got it straight away. Ive sat on him in his stable once. He wasnt bothered by that. But going to leave the long reining etc to the RI who is going to back him. I would rather someone experienced start him, dont want to get it wrong.
