It was mine and Nelly's first ever show today and we did an in-hand M&M class. We were unplaced but Nelly behaved impeccably and I was very proud of her. I had a nice ride round the showground afterwards so that she could get used to the sights and sounds and she really enjoyed herself.

I am going to do a few more shows this year before I give it up as a bad job because it was nice to get out and about even if we didn't cover ouselves with glory

Well done Nelly for being well behaved on her first outing and definately don't give up as I'm sure she'll be placed soon, she's gorgeous.

How could Nelly not get placed, she's beautiful!

Glad you had a good day all the same, me and Murphy did appallingly at our first local show, but we had so much fun!

Well done! Who cares if you don't get placed (sorry, am not very competitive with horses!) as long as you have a great time

Good luck for your next show! Can you get some tips to increase your chances of a rosette next time? Nelly's lovely!

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. What a lovely supportive lot of folks we have on here! Could you all go and have a word with the judge before our next attempt please - lol

BeckyD - I got some tips from my instructor and a friend who is always in the ribbons with her Highland. I think I could have run a bit faster when we did our trot but my back was hurting too much! I am glad I wasn't showing a Sec D or I'd have been flat on my face on the floor I think

good luck with future shows, also remember that some horses/ponies just are not inhand stars but truely shine under saddle. I have one of these and he is unrecogniseable between inhand and ridden classes

Thanks BeckyD.

conniegirl -I will try the ridden class as well next time. The judge did suggest that I entered the ridden M&M but with it being my pony's first show I thought I would just stick to the one class like I had planned.
