So my RI would like me to do a couple of intros on a ticket next season with the 6 yo mare I have been riding for her since April

I've never done one before! I only came back into riding this January too, so I still feel quite green. I'd love to have a go - I just really want to do this lovely young mare justice and hadn't thought of eventing until I have my own horse again. Any suggestions on Intros in the Midlands area that might be kind to us girlie first timers next season??

If it makes you feel any better, I did my first PN aged 26 (that was in the old days before we even had intro level

Oasby is a nice one, and I would have said Prestwold but it was a bit of an eyeful this year iirc.

Rodbaston, Broadway are nice - Sapey is perfect though sadly that has been and gone, Ive heard Stafford is great too. CM not so kind, ummm Berrington looked lovely. Apt Holdenby is a nice track too though dont know if that has Intro..?

I'm hoping my first intro will be in 2 yrs, aged 32!

I might practice for the grand event by doing my first dressage test in 15 years and my first showjumpiing round in 4 years and all aboard a nice fiesty 4 yr old! Do you think I'm taking on too much?!!

Prestwold is my favourite event at the moment

But prob not best for a first time.

Oasby is lovely, Stafford is a fab event, and the Intro is nice but not the least testing Ive ever seen!! Eland Lodge is lovely

That'll be a walk in the park, easybloominpeasy.

If you bottle out, I know of an ok-ish local rider who might quite like to ride a Grafenstolz baby.....

v v good to know Baydale

- though tbh I think Roger is an even greater candidate for bottling out on his baby

. Would be his first be for oooh around 30 years when the time comes - I think he did one, won one when he was 15
crazy.gif
- although to be fair to him he did have a crack at a PC 1DE last year with my hunter - from memory an exmoor pony won!!

Sorry for hijacking the post, but he doesn't seem to have a BE record ASM

. Are you sure it won't be his first event too
blush.gif
- just thought I'd bring it to your attention knowing how competitive you both are - don't want you thinking he's much more experienced than you after all.............

When i read the title, i thought you were going to aim a horse at its first intro aged 23 hahaha..

As a rider 23 is still very young!! i'm sure there was something on either er.com or eww.com about some lady aged 50 something doing her first BE event...

If your instructor thinks you're ready, and the owner of the horse likes the way you ride it, then i'm sure you're more than ready!!
