As title said did our first dressage test today. Intro A walk & trot and was just very disappointed with the marking. I got 53.5% but most if not all the comments were about her not being on a outline. Does anyone else think this unfare considering it was a intro test?

The don't have to be in a full classic outline but they do have to be in self carriage. Is that what was meant?

Even in the intro test the judge will be marking to the scales of training....I found when I started off with my mare they wanted to see some kind of babyish 'round' outline at least. How does she work normally, hollow and above the bit? Also all judging is different and some score more harshly than others which will be reflected through the whole class. Onwards and upwards, work on it and aim to improve next time!

The comment about lost outline on the downward transition suggests she is on her forehand too much? It could be the outline is easier and quicker to write than self carriage? Joolie is also absolutely right about the scales of training.
