Does anyone else have an OH who can spend whole days glued to the TV watching sport? I have to say, it doesn't really bother me as I can come on here and I also have the horse to do, but just as I thought the football had ended and I might be able to put the TV onto something that doesn't involve the monotone of vuvuzoolawoowoos, it was cheerfully announced that the golf is on.....and he keeps rewinding bits of it to show me someone's golf shot - apparently something amazing....someone who I have never heard of. Tonight, I tried to show interest by asking him about St.Andrews, where he has played, and he said........"I'll take you up there sometime and show you".........oh no, what have I started????

Golf should not be classed as a sport and should be banned...... do I feel another policy coming on? ;)

Use it to your advantage- ask him for things while he's distracted :D

Don't ever show interest, they will never shut up lol. i asked my bf to explaine the offside rule once, BIG mistake, we were sat there for ages, in the end i just agreed with him, still don't get it!!. He is also into loads of other sports which are extremly BORING so i just keep my gob shut and hope he dosen't rope me into it.

I quite like watching the golf, but I often find myself thinking how nice it would be to have a good gallop up the fairways, they look very inviting!

The second part of the post has stopped me from sending the men in white coats round!!

Yes I always talk about what a good gallops the fairways would make and how the dog would love digging in the sand pits (he doesn't like it when I call them sand pits). I used to walk my dog early mornings up a golf course and there was a "sand pit" right next to the footpath, always well raked at 7 in the morning and sure enough the dog would go straight in, running round and digging....oh how I laughed!!

We have a golf course near us, that has a bridle way running across it, i think they moved the path a bit because horse riders were getting in the way, :D i hav'nt been across it for some years though.

My OH is laid up at his house at the moment , as he's just had an op, the golf seems to be on all day  I don't stay very long, but i made him switch over to Emerdale tonight :D

My OH is working at the Open at St Andrews, and keeps phoning me to tell me to watch it just in case he's in the background. Err, no thanks, I know what you look like already!! Golf is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo boring!

Lmao, my bf wanted me to watch a footie match from about 3 yrs ago because they showed him in the crowd. sat there for ages waiting, turned my head for a min and missed it!!

I've been subjected to football, for dont know how many weeks, and now Im being subjected to golf. Dont understand and cannot not see the point to it. Near us we also have a bridleway that crosses a golf course and it is always tempting to lose control and pretend that he has bolted to have a good gallop up those long green bits. Dont even know what they are called.

If any of you have to watch the golf at St Andrews, just picture this.

18th hole - I HAVE galloped across it!!!!!

LOL, I Grew up there and was riding to the beach (next to the Old Course) on little cheeky grey pony (long time ago) he was prone to bolting, saw the beach as we were about to ride across the road that crosses the course. It all got to exciting for him and he took off!!!!

Could be worse. Totally non horsey me was dragged up to wifey's stables a couple of years ago. Ended up with my own horse so now she has me around 24/7... Careful what you wish for :)

Long green bits are fairways and my ex-racer would just love to chew those up :) Pity there are no golf courses near me. Hang on, royal liverpool isn't far away ;)

Off side rule? Dead easy... pass the ball to a player who is nearer to the goal than any of the defending players, he's offside. So players can't just sit on the goal line waiting for the ball to be kicked to them. Like passing forwards in rugby. Would make the game too easy. Just in case you wanted to know. How long did it take him to explain it?

No, I hate those sports too. Ex skier and surfer turned rider. Go figure...

I have to admit......he is showing an unusual amount of interest in my new mare....I think he likes her more than I do. And he even came with me to take her to the horsepital earlier this week and has offered to go and collect her next week. I don't trust him to cross tie her properly in the box or to put her boots on tight enough, or drive slowly enough. Do I take the risk of letting him collect her on his own with the underhand intention of getting him even more interested???
