Hey all,

I've got a job interview tomorrow for my first 'proper' job, as an administrative assistant for a small recruitment firm. I had a telephone interview today, and have been asked to go to the office tomorrow morning for a face to face interview. The position is part time, working 5 hours a day mon - fri to begin with (so I can fit it around my stable work :p). The only problem is, I have no idea what sort of salary I should expect?? The guy on the phone asked me today and I sort of rambled a bit to not actually answer directly (cringe). I've always hated discussing money! So my question is, what sort of amount per hour would be considered reasonable?? I don't want to be naive about it, but equally of course I want to be realistic. The office is in central London so I would have train fares.

Thanks in advance!

If I were you I would have a look at similar job adverts which include the salary to get an idea of the salary mark for that sort of role. I think if this was a full time position you could probably expect to be offered somewhere between the £15k to £18k mark??? Obviously just pro-rata that figure for the hours you would be working to get an accurate amount. Don't be afraid to set out your expectations - if you don't ask you don't get! Good luck getting the job :)

Thank you both for your replies :) I'm so nervous and get particularly awkward when it comes to discussing money!

-Oops, just realised I posted in the tack room instead of the club house!
