Hi my 5 year old daughter is doing her first mini (30cm) ODE on Sunday. She is borrowing the pony she uses at the stables for lessons. Stupid question but how do I know how she has done in each element. Do I get these at the end of each element or just at the end. Also in the very small chance that she places are rosettes done at the end of each class or at the end of the day? Also take any tips for our first time!

You really need to ask the organiser as these things will vary from place to place.

Normally rosettes and scores will be available after each class. Scores may be available after each phase but not always, it depends on the timescales. I am sure she will have lots of fun though.

if it is a local riding club they may do it differently but the ones i have been to have a scoreboard pinned up somewhere under cover and they write the results as they finish each section. so dressage first . then sj. then cc....and rosettes and placings at the end of the cc.....just make sure she enjoys herself and encourage her if anything doesnt go quite right....hope you both have fun

Ahh have fun.

My tip would be to make sure you know the dress code, i.e. gloves for dressage, what bit is dressage 'legal' for the pony. Athough these events for young children are geared up to be low key there will probably be run to a certain standard and it would be a shame to be eliminated for not having the right gear.

I'd also write her 'times' on her hand so you don't forget them - I used to find that really helpful!

I hope she has a really nice time.

Thank you. We were kitting her out the other day hope I have everything. She is so excited! I’m hoping it’s the first of many

Thank you everyone she had a blast and managed to place first! She’s now working on us for a pony!

Well done to your daughter.
You may live to regret it £££££££££ 😂😂😂😂😂
