The big appy and little appy have carried a little too much weight into march so they have just been in 100 gram rugs or rain sheets and been warm, while fully clipped, so today I just whipped the rain sheets off and they are naked.

That was after a fab blast round the fields with little appy and a friend :D nothing like a good gallop on a nice sunny morning.

Mine got turned out after riding, with no rug (shame I cant take TF's wooly-yak coat off).
However, I did pop back up the field to put a LW back on when I left, as its actually still nippy in the wind & my tops fields are very exposed. Damage limitation as I dont want to tread in the 'dancing holes' made when CF would want to warm up ;)

I have 2 in full fluff out in paddock.

They have had rugs off during the day a few times so far. Today the rugs came off full stop!!!

I had to pause and comment on this one...I...shame of shame...had my ponies in on Tuesday afternoon due to snowy day...but it was 5 degrees and I left them in the stables with no rugs on til teatime (hairy ponies). Other hairy horses were in all day in 250g stable rugs. I think other liveries would call in the professionals if I turned mine out without rugs..(they are in no fills).

my retired hairy wb has only had a rain sheet on or when it is raining a 100 gram with neck (she is cross with a tb so the whimpyness is doubled) as she shivers with just a sheet on in rain. in snow she is out naked this winter

both boys are white so will be interesting what colour they are later. at least little appy might match his cream neck from rolling with a standard neck on :D

Took my girls rug off yesterday afternoon and was tempted to put her out unrugged this morning as I was boiling after mucking out, but temperature on car was still only 2 degrees so chickened out! It has warmed up a lot but now clouded over, I may be brave tomorrow and take it off her all day.

My oldies are out in a lightweight on the 37 yr old and the 27 yr old has his, wait for it - BUG RUG on!!!!!!! The little biting midgie blighters are out and about at the first sign of sun where we are - good job Avon had an offer on skin so soft the other month, I stocked up in anticipation this year. They'll be back in their big rugs tonight though, thank goodness I get there before it is properly dark now - spring is definitely on the way - whoopppeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Ditto the oldie, and left the stabled ones out last night!

The joy of not mucking out this morning was quickly replaced with the extra poo picking, but the horses certainly seemed happy staying out and hadn't even finished their haylage.

Can't really comment as my 2 have been naked for months, pony has wintered without one not once touching his back, big girl had hers on for probably about 5 weeks in total :) I have become quite a convert to no rugs so much easier!

I put both mine out naked after I rode they are clipped but much of it has grown back now, I looked out of the window and they were having a groom with each other bless em!

As much as I'd like to and mine would be warm enough, there is way too much mud around for mine to be naked. Both down to 100g rugs though.

its really grey here :( with a bit of a nippy wind too :(

Bruce got fully clipped on Mon as had started to moult and get itchy so he's in a HW. Unclipped but not really got a coat 3yo Goofy is in a MW and woosy Fig in a HW plus under rug.

if the weather gets as nice as is promised over the weekend i expect Goofy will be down to a no fill and the other 2 MW.

rock on spring!

Mine were turned out yesterday without rugs, today it is cold and with a bitter wind blowing and they are back on. They made the most of yesterday though and came in filthy. Really starting to notice the lighter evenings now so roll on spring :)

Its too cold here. My weather station says 8 degrees but only 3 in the wind. Its an icy wind we can't seem to get rid of at the minute. I'm looking forward to some sun.

I decided it was too cold this morning, but I went back at lunchtime and took the rugs off the 4 grey ones on the basis that they can run around to keep warm, could spare a few pounds and are moulting so I would prefer them to either leave their fluff on the grass, or on each other as they are avid groomers, than on me...... the more practically coloured brown one though is probably too wimpy to tough it out naked just yet and I don't want him losing any more condition

Thats just crazy all you rug taker offers! My horse is not having a rug off until the mud has dried out. I have RC jumping lessons the next two saturdays and I have absolutely no inclination to brush what will be a completely brown horse after he's finished - I don't need that from a grey thankyou very much. He is moulting too the hairy beast, but I don't care - I refuse to put myself through it :p

I'm hoping to let mine go naked at the weekend just to get all his coat out as he's in full moult - keeping an eye on our forecast but if dry and in double figures or even feels a bit balmy it's happening - he'll love it.

Well to two boys stayed clean. I'm lucky that their feild is quite dry :D it's cold in the wind but they can go down below the brow of the hill and stay out of it. They were warm coming in.
