Hey guys!

Had such positive comments on my XC post I thought I'd update you with some more good news! Me and my boy baloo went off to our first ODE today and by first I mean first ever for us both! I kept it at 50/60cm and the whole point was to gain experience and a good foundation as a team together.

He's still a touch nervous when he first arrives so I warmed him up quietly as possible before venturing in for our first part which was the dressage test.

We did intro B and he was very good indeed and he managed a very impressive 67.6% in his first ever dressage test! So super proud. With the judge commenting he's one to watch in the future!

The show jumping could have started better I just sat like plum to the first fence and with my lack of support he decided to duck out! However once we got over the first on the second go he absolutely flew the rest!

The XC started really strong and we was flying however he did a big spook at another fence and I lost my stirrup, still did fence 9 one legged but the lead up to 10 was not pretty and as such he politely declined! He did however do it on second try for a strong finish!

So all in all a very good day most of the issue being me needing to ride more! We still came 10th in the e d!

Spam time!

Amazing! Well done!
Don't worry about the riding, at least you know what to try and do better next time, but it sometimes takes time to be able to remind yourself!
I know when I used to compete, I used to be a bugger forgetting how to ride! But onwards and upwards!
Hope you take it as a great experience :)

Thank you, I did find during elements I was shouting at myself in my head to ride forward, sit up, kick and the rest! Then just moments of being completely switched off haha.

I guess that will come with time, it was very good experience either way!

Thanks guys though he be but little (15hh) he is fierce!

The major thing I learned yesterday is that he is just a baby and as such I need to put my brave pants on and start riding him to fences now! Although he's super brave he does have little wobbles and me sitting there like a spud just isn't what he needs!
