It’s been 7 months since we’ve been out but my wagon came back last week so we headed off to an unaffiliated prelim today. Millie went straight on the wagon and travelled well, after her usual kick off (bang, bang, thud...). Arrived and warmed up and she felt amazing.
Into the test, which was prelim 7 and she was super. The test felt accurate and she had no major mistakes.
So when I checked the scoreboard, I was a bit despondent to see we had 64.77% as I felt we deserved higher.
Just out of the placings anyway, but when I got my sheet I saw I had received 2 penalties for having a gel seat saver.

Anyway, I was so proud of Millie that I chalked it up to one of those things, but still had a niggling doubt about the seat saver so have come home and checked the rule book and gel seat savers are allowed, provided they match the colour of the saddle, which it did. Ah well!

Pics to follow!

You've taken it really well - I'm not too proud to say I'd have been gutted!
Gel seat savers apart no wonder you're pleased, it bodes well for yours and Millie's next outings. Looking forward to pics!

Well that's a really decent score for a first time out in ages, particularly consider what a difficult time you've had physically at the beginning of the year. She looks super in the pics 😁

Thank you. I was a bit frustrated, but I’m actually more relieved to confirm that they are allowed, as my coccyx is so bad now that I really don’t think I can ride without it.

I let the venue know anyway and they replied straight away, very apologetic, said they will adjust my score and will let the judge know, so can’t ask for fairer than that.

Thank you very much. She’s come on so much over the winter and today was only her 5th ever test and her 3rd prelim, so she really was super. She’s not naturally built for dressage, but she really does try her heart out regardless.

Next thing to do is to try and get her to stand on the wagon quietly and wait after her test...it will make life so much easier when it’s raining and thundering (like today!).

Blimey never realised seat savers were even mentioned in the rules! Glad you got it sorted though. That’s a good outing and a decent score. Well done.

Very well done on your outing, especially after your health issues earlier in the year. Is that Foxes indoor school?

And I’m envious that your butt is small enough so that the judge could even notice the gel pad! I’m sure that my own ample arse safely camouflages my own saddle pad from prying eyes, especially if I was wearing a show jacket!

Well done, I was there earlier for the P1. The weather was hideous and so was the great big thoroughbred! Hope your score has been revised for you.

Great job and well done for getting those two points back. I was once at an unafil ODE and got eliminated in the dressage phase for my horse stepping out the arena (they let me do the SJ and XC and told me in prize giving I had been eliminated so at least I got to do the rest!) but I later found out that as the boards weren't solid, it should never have been an elimination. Little bit annoying but ah well - i let them know for next time :)

We're all always learning - judges and show organizers included:)

Thanks everyone. Yep it was Foxes, I absolutely love the venue, its local, it’s very well run and we are so lucky having that facility there holding the number of competitions they do so I will always support it.
I just felt that that could have put some people off going back there if it had happened to them and they found out a judge wasn’t aware of the rules, so I decided to mention it.

I will be back there at the next one, hopefully aiming to improve our canter scores, as they do pull us down a bit at the moment.

Well done Scats, that's a fab score. How does it work when they revise your score ? Would you have got placed, and due a frilly ? it would be nice if they sent you one out in the post. ( I love a frilly )
