Yesterday we went out to a competition for the first time since early March and it was lovely to be out and about again! Horse is not eventing fit after lockdown, so a dressage competition suited best and it felt very safe. Only 3 in warmup and lots of room for parking, plus hand sanitiser in strategic places. Daughter pleased with 66.67 in Novice 36 and third place, despite the fact that Molly decided there was a dragon in one corner of the arena!B9A9E34D-869C-48D6-BF1E-CD3AE0D41959.jpeg

Hi Sheep - yes it was a lovely venue, our first time there too. Well done to you - I think a lot of horses (and riders) were feeling the nerves a bit after not being out for so long! I was very tempted by the chips, but trying to be good as Molly isn’t the only one with a lockdown belly ?

Yes I definitely felt a bit rusty & nervous! So instead of just getting on with it and riding, I turned into a plank and rode like I was made of wood ? We did a few online dressage things over lockdown but this was only our second proper dressage outing. Horse is still a bit confused by the white boards ? Thankfully he isn’t really the reactive sort... he just stares and does some pathetic little spooks.
Hoping to get out to a few more of those, it’s really quite handy for us (we are just the other side of Hillsborough). Maybe next weekend if OH doesn’t claim the horse to go jumping ?
