Well as some of you know I bought a rising 4 year old Welsh part bred a few months ago. We've had a few little hiccups as expected but all in all he's been a superstar and as it was is 4th birthday last weekend I thought it would be time for our first proper 'outing'.
Not only is this Arlos first ever outing, but mine too! I have only ever hacked, so clinics and shows are a whole new territory for me and I'm hoping Arlo will be the horses to take me places and do things I've never been able to before!
He was just a star, we hacked down and arrive a bit early letting him have a munch and a drink as it's so hot! We then had a walk round the arena and just got used to the mirrors and surroundings. We then cracked on with poles and he was a little superstar. I'm just trying to keep everything fun and interesting for him - we're not bothered about outlines and 'schooling' just yet - we're experiencing new things and learning together. For a new environment and working in a school with another horse his manners were impeccable, standing quietly and no nappiness which in all honesty I expected a bit of!
He never fails to surprise he's coming on so well from the nervous little thing i couldn't even mount that I bought a few months ago.
Please excuse my riding by the way! I know I'm far from perfect and have things to work on.
