Well this Saturday is going to be my first ridden outing on my rising 5yo.
We're going to a Le Trec, I spoke to the woman on the phone and she sounds lovely, says that everyone will help out where needed and that its really laid back :)
Im really looking forward to it.

BUT Im terrified of travelling :/ Ive had him in my trailer a few times last year and he was good. I just panic as soon as hes in and Im in the car. Luckily Im not the one towing, or I don't think we'd get anywhere. But Im going to need a full bottle of rescue remedy at this rate lol.

bit of a pointless post really but Im excited :D

Good luck I did my first outin last week and had not travelled my boy for 5 yrs he was a star as I am sure urs will b! Good luck breathe deep smile and enjoy! Oh n make sure u add pics :-)

If it's a beginner Trec, it'll be perfect. They usually start off on the ground / in hand which gives them time to settle down and get into the swing before you get on.

Good luck :)

Thanks guys, my parents will hopefully get some good pics :)
It is beginner trec yes, thought it would be great for confidence as we can miss bits out :)

You'll be fine, enjoy it! :) My boy's first outing was a beginner Trec, exciting to begin with, but he calmed down quickly and didn't put a foot wrong. It really is ideal for a first one.

So Jimmy loaded and travelled like an angel this morning, even though I had stress levels through the roof and was feeling really rather nervous.
Got to the show and started talking to the lady next to us, she had a Friesian, Beautiful horse, 5yo.
I got tacked up and sorted and headed out to the start, we had a hack to do first with clues and things to find all the way round, brilliant fun!!
They asked me if I wanted to set off with another rider that was waiting to go and he said we might as well. So I set off with this guy, but half way around, we had stopped to write answers to the clues. And then he cantered off with me holding on to paper in one hand and pen in the other, no control! But Jimmy stayed with me and was a star :D (I wouldnt have minded if he'd said "Im going to go on ahead" )
I had a few canters, the last one was quite a long one and I had break failure, we've never gone so fast together!!!
We then met up with the lady and the Friesian and finished the ride with her (and the obstacles and things too, shes given me her number ) :)

When we got back, we had to do slowest canter and fastest walk, Jimmy was really fab but he slipped in his canter transition so we broke :(

He did every obstacle with no fuss! An absolute star! He had to do allsorts and he didnt bat an eye !! I was super super proud :D :D :D

The only bad thing was that his naughty trick that I thought Id got rid of came back and the naughty boy went to roll with me! He laid down and I gave him a few smacks to get him up.
But I cant fault him at all, he was so calm and so well behaved and was happy enough at horses being around us and passing us!

Dad is a terrible photographer :( Lol

Every one got a medal at the end :)
