so i decided to bite the bullet and enter on a day ticket to do a pre-novice at the Dunany event. this was quite a big ask as we are starting to teach him how to jump again
as his jumping is bordering on the line of dangerous
so we are teaching him to round over the fence by turning over the jump. so the past week he has come on in leaps & bounds.
so rolled up to the event and off to walk the xc. was an incredibly long course! it was about 6.30 mins and there were over 26 fences
the course wasnt too bad only a few questions such as a big upright log going into the wood and a scary boat.
the dressage was good for our first event, as we stumbled quite a lot and the sun was sooooo hot! we warmed up well and then went in, and luckily i remembered the test because someone got a nasty E beside their dressage mark... anyhoos when i went to see my score it said 51
and i was sooo annoyed because i didnt think it was that bad. but luckily for me, they got the scores mixed up and i actually ended up on 35.5
the sj was good as he actually started to round over the fences and we only got one down but i was pleased as i thought he would get more down
i also jumped him without a martingale
and on to the xc... he was fab! jumped log, wall then an upright stile then jumped a half coffin - little green but he started to get bolder as the course went on. bank, flower bed and log all good, and jumped an awkard placed tyre jump great, down sweetly throught the drop and to the skinny brush. bounded down the steps and throught the water jump. along the coast he was fab just leaped all the fences that i asked him to jump even scary trak into the wood
then a long gallop home
ok we did get 16 time penalies but we were only going for expierence and we ended up 9th!
thanks for reading if you got through all that
