This is first proper (proper meaning actually getting some height in) jumping session i have had with my boy since he broke a splint bone in november. Any CC welcome...i could do with it.
I am rather proud of my boy, he is rather spooky when it comes to jumping but he took it all in his stride
Well done - he looks lovley considering that was his first jumping session since box rest! He looks like a smashing lad - taking it all in his stride. Other HHO's could give you much better CC I am sure but maybe just try to get a little more shape over the jump possibly. This is hard obviously since he has been on box rest though.
Hi
First of all so pleased your boy has recovered well
He's jumping well considering all the time off so well done
I think the best way to improve your jumping is to really work on your flatwork... do you have an instructor? I say that because he looks quite stiff in the neck and his head carriage is very high which makes the jump a little unbalanced I think...
Also just make sure you're hands aren't restricting him... in some parts of the video you can see he can't stretch his neck forward quite enough because your hands are a little fixed and not allowing his neck forwards.. it's almost as if your hands pull back towards you as he lands, catching him in the mouth a little...
Other than that you're doing well...
Also, I'm no expert so am fully prepared for someone to tell me I'm talking rubbish Have fun with him this summer
Yeah i felt he got too deep in to the jump (probably my fault as it went up bigger than usual and i pushed too much) also need to give with my hands more i know this.
He isnt actually that stiff at all he just gets locked on to the jump sometimes but i dont like to turn him away from it once were on a good stride because he will start refusing. Its hard to get a good balance. He does work round when we do flat work and is very soft and supple. Just all goes to pot once the jump goes up for both of us. Ah dear
Ahh I see....
Maybe try having some jumps up while you're schooling on the flat and circling round them but don't jump... so he gets used to working properly and soft and round while the jumps are there and hopefully he won't get so excited when you are jumping... no promises though I think he loves his jumping
Yeah he does love jumping, hes a right scardy cat though once something scary like a filler or cones or underneath no way will he go near it so got to practice with things like that now
