First ride in two years, very happy

Absolutely lovely post! Well done you!

I've had a confidence crisis in the past and nearly gave up but am now a reasonably confident rider. Everytime I take my horse to the beach for a gallop I remember why it's all worth while :)

Thanks Sahara for all your advice will definitely try the lavender oil, I need all the help I can get with these b----y nerves, my old vet used to suggest a few glasses of wine before getting on board!

I think Bo was probably in shock, I'm the groom and husband is the rider, when I led her up the drive towards the mounting block she stopped and I'm sure she was very confused, once we were off her ears were going forward and back as I was chatting to her telling her to just waaaaaalk nice and quieeeeeeeet goooooood girl, and she was!

Dollymix, I dream of a lovely gallop on the beach, but I would just love a nice gentle canter over the forest with my husband like the old days. Maybe I'll get there again.

Well Bo and I went out again this morning, we went off down the track and off to the right were two grazing donks, no problem we have two at home, however, Bo decided these were a particularly dangerous duo. I didn't want an issue so decided to turn back. After a few steps I decided I had to conquer this and go further so turned down a different track away from scarey ned eating donks, I continued for about 1/2 mile and then turned for home, coming back was a bit scarey (for me not her), her head went up and doing her best giraffe imitation wanted to jog back, I remembered to breathe, sit deep and not hold onto her and we arrived home in one piece, another ride over and I am very pleased - as is husband!
