I was a bit apprehensive, to be honest. My bone has mended, but I still have limited movement and strength and it gets sore quite quickly. I wasn't even on a horse I'd ordinarily have chosen to ride after an accident; she's 4, prone to silliness and likes to lean on my left (now weak!) rein. Not only that... I was the last person to ride her so she was very well rested!! Antifaz (also prone to silliness, but I know him better

) had already been exercised and PF is off work... Sooo, I lunged madam first and then got on. She was absolutely fantastic. So good that I asked if someone hadn't ridden her while I was off. I was told that no, they hadn't so I can only conclude that some of what I'd been trying to teach her sunk in!

Even my boss (who is VERY critical) said she went really well. So I'm very pleased and glad I didn't get nerves

Glad to hear you back in the saddle

, my collarbone still nags occasionally over five years later

, so dont worry about it taking it's time to feel better.

Yay! Well done you.

Sounds like you have taught her well if she was such a good girl! Don't rush things too much though, will you?

[/ QUOTE ]
Well, I did have the tiniest smug glow when I was told no one else had ridden her

Boss is being very understanding and is allowing me to take on only as much as I feel fit/strong enough to do.

How is PF doing?

[/ QUOTE ]
She's looking very well indeed and I'm keeping her fit by loose schooling her. I'm getting more x-rays at the end of the month to see when it would be prudent to ride her. I tried fitting a hackamore on her, but the curb strap fits riiiight on her bump, so I'm just going to have to be more patient

cool,

I think me and frank did similar to you 2 did jumping on sunday, he was lucky and jus scraped his nose, I scraped my nose too (and bust arm!)

Well done, PF! I think you are very brave, especially getting on a horse you had every reason to believe wouldn't be easy!

I am so glad you are healed, at least, if not completely out of pain - my back still hurts every day after twelve years (though broken vertebra aren't the same as a collarbone). So don't worry if it takes longer than you would hope to get completely back to normal.

Also glad that horsey PF is healing, though it's been a long time, poor thing

Onwards and upwards, eh!

Well done! It's always a bit scary getting back on after an accident/time off. I remember when I got back on 3 weeks after my concussion, I thought the horse was really high up, the ground really far away and everything in between was wobbly!

Oh, thats great news. We belong to the same club, only I only got in the saddle about three weeks ago after almost seven months. Listen to your body and take things slowly. Well done you.

Hang on... don't you have pins in your collarbone though?

How are LC and Sofanor? Any new piccies?

[/ QUOTE ]
They're well, but look shocking!! Well, Sofanor is looking the same, but I was really rather upset when I realised how lean LC is under all his fluff

; the winter, it seems, has taken its toll! Now I know I'm not going to break again, I've been bringing him for some TLC and extra feed. I suspect he's a bit low in the pecking order among foals as well! Poor baby!

How's that kitten coming along??

[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks

Kitten is (touch wood) doing extremely well. I got some kitten milk formula from the vet and we've had lots of wee, 3 enormous poos, and he's sleeping and eating well. I'm very pleased with him, although I do miss the uninterrupted nights!!
