I know it's a bit early really but I'm excited because I have two lots of horsey plans this week :D

Tomorrow is a hack; I thought after last week best to not overthink it even more than usual and to just get out there again asap. Weather warnings have been in place for rain here today and tomorrow, it's been pretty persistent today so could well be a soggy one! I better dig out my trusty Decathlon waterproof jods.

Then Saturday I'm heading up to Warwick, where the forecast looks warmer and drier than here, for a side saddle photoshoot experience. My OH booked it for me for my birthday which was in July. I'm a bit thinking 'what am I doing?!' because I've never done any side saddle. But it was on my 2024 goals list so I'm going for it!

Sounds great! Enjoy your hack and side saddle photo shoot. Funnily enough I just posted about trying side saddle, it's fun if hard work. Please show us your photos when you've got them.

Its our county show this weekend so I'm off showing tomorrow. Pulling him in from the field this afternoon for a clean up and he's going to have to be stabled overnight which he's not going to like, but I can't bring myself to put him back out in mud overnight (I usually show from the field as he's less stressed that way). I'm in the ring about 9am so not much time to get ready first thing.

I've not really thought passed 10am tomorrow to be honest.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

I'm running a new kind of riding camp focused round hypnotherapy. A proof of concept camp really, so hope it goes well. Taking Lottie for demos and guided hacking.

I'm setting off just after watching Sophie Wells at 11:13 and will hope to catch up with the rest of the competition in between camp responsibilities.

That sounds interesting AE, I hope the camp goes well.

Rain and thunder down this way so my hack was cancelled.

We hacked out alone yesterday & survived! We also survived the jumping clinic today, loaded there & back fine, not too scatty, jumped everything (it was teeny tiny) despite not having really jumped on grass before & being very new to fillers & it was a really good, confidence-building day. Apart from her treading on my foot when I was wearing trainers. She weighs around 625kg. Thank goodness she's barefoot...!

It was fab thanks, Just home and knackered! It was a totally new kind of camp - just 4 riders, staying in a luxury cottage, all with specific issues of 1 kind or another. Camp included groundwork,, guided hacking, flat work, jumping, mindset work, demos and hypnotherapy sessions. And a clear plan to go home with. Everyone seemed happy so as far as 'proof of concept' goes it seemed to tick the boxes and we will do another next year I think. Lottie is turning into a great clinic horse actually. She is used to demo, to guide hacks and to nanny any horses getting upset. She just takes it all in her stride and will tolerate horses around her getting agitated without reacting. And I managed a sneaky lesson myself while I was there.

That sounds brilliant! The sort of clinic I would be interested in

I went to this clinic, I had a great time. It's over 10 years since I've been anywhere like this with a pony, so was pretty terrified, but do you know what?, it all went really well 😍 really nice instructors and other camp members, the cottage was fab.
I think it's still going to take time to change my mindset but working on it

Actually I can
These are the good days

A bit late for my update but I had a very exciting weekend - I picked up a loan horse! He's an advanced (PSG / Inter 1) dressage horse, 17yo and owned by a friend of mine. I've known him for a few years as his owner and I train together and I was blown away when she asked if I'd like to loan him. It's an incredible opportunity and I feel so lucky. I rode him at home last night for the first time, he came out of his box passaging and snorting but settled with some in-hand walking, then knuckled down to work brilliantly. Hopefully we'll have some fun months ahead and I can learn how to ride in a more advanced way of going!

Meanwhile Chilli has gone out with the herd for the winter and is making the most of it, he's covered in mud and looking very content.

Really glad you've had some good news after the disappointing news with Chilli. Look forward to hearing how you get on with Sammi, what an incredible opportunity!!
