Hi
Tomorrow I am going to my first show!!! It is an inhand show, but I am very nervous... Does anyone have any tips for combatting them, or general last minute tips?
Also, this evening I found out that a dandy brush and hoof pick do wonders for boot cleaning....
Sorry a bit pointless, just need some reassurance!
Thanks :)

Deep breath, look up, think positive and keep your pony well up to his bridle not lagging behind, use a schooling whip if he's a bit lazy, first show of the season etc no one will mind. Make sure you turn him away from you on your walk away/trot back, head straight for the judge, they will move, and trot on past the line up around to the back, stop nicely and stand pony up you never know what the judge will see out of the corner of their eye! It's all in the presentation! Good Luck and most importantly, have fun that's what it's all about! :)

Just have fun and relish the fact that you can't fall off! :D

Also my best tip, the judge is judging the horse, only your handling skills (i.e. if you can keep the horse in the show ring...) will be judged. Always have the horse between you and judge, and always be polite! Smile and nod to acknowledge the judges requests, keep looking back to the judge every so often to let them know you are actually there with them, and if your horse is pooing please stop so it doesn't leave a trail lol

Pics are a must!

Good luck!

Dont worry. your groom for the day has every confidence in you! ;)

Think back to a few months ago. smile and have fun - thats all that matters :)

It's show day!

I think Toz would probably appreciate any last minute encouragement, she has been working hard with this pony all winter and he isn't at all an easy pony!

God luck and enjoy it! Would second all the stuff about thinking at all times about how you are presenting your horse and concentrating on the judge - was once moved up a place and the judge actually said to me that this was because I had taken the time to stand my boy up properly after my individual show .........
