As being as Star has not been to a show since Oct 09 (we have spent the winter training) i was a little bit aprehensive about how wild he would be in the warm up, as he is usally sharp for the first ten mins, and after a 4 months break i was imagining all sorts of horrible manouvres......well he did leap from the hard standing through the gate in to the warm up and then do a nice series of frog jumps down the long side, and do one VERY impressive 360 rear to show everyone his new girth guard (!) but then settled down beautifully, so i had been worried about nothing.
sadly no pics of this as mum was gossiping and eating cake!
N27 was in the new indoor, and aside from jogging in the medium walk he did a very sweet test, stayed up and in front of my leg and got a nice square halt at the end.
we ended up on 62.5% for 3rd in the open (5th out of 10 overall) which i thought was a bit mean as there wasnt much to dislike,it just needed more power, oh well....

half an hour for a drink and food break for everyone and then back in to warm up for N37. He was uber chilled this time and gave me some fab work, including some nice trot half pass which i sneaked in when i thought no one was watching!!!
stretching warm up:

then back *up*:

my sneaky HP...ignore my floppy head

pinging up in to canter:

sparkley bandages off, we went in to the new indoor for the test...

again a really sweet test, and i actually got my leg on and RODE the trot!!! had a teeny jog in the walk again, which i dont really mind, he's quick behind and keen to get on with the job, the relaxation will come, and also did 2 appalling halts!!! but didnt spook in the new arena at all, and was nicely forward again so i was a very happy camper!
got 65.7% and was 2nd in the open, yay!!! (was 5th out of 15 overall).
so a nice handful of points and area festival qualification in the bag if we dont get to the regionals

aaaaaaaaaaaand, Star made a new friend...

and we discovered that he will follow my friends dog up the ramp!!!! (usually we have to blindfold him to load him) which had us all

I think i *might* have seen Baydale.....but you (if it was you!) were looking very concentrated so i didnt want to interrupt, so i wasnt being ignorant, sorry. Hope you had a good one.....if it was you......!
out again in two weeks when i WILL ride the canter like a boundingly powerful dressage horse and not a flicky 12hh show pony!!!
creme eggs and purple lucozade for anyone who gets this far!!
