lovely jubbly day, perfect times, perfect weather, beautifully behaved horse, what more can a girl ask!

As being as Star has not been to a show since Oct 09 (we have spent the winter training) i was a little bit aprehensive about how wild he would be in the warm up, as he is usally sharp for the first ten mins, and after a 4 months break i was imagining all sorts of horrible manouvres......well he did leap from the hard standing through the gate in to the warm up and then do a nice series of frog jumps down the long side, and do one VERY impressive 360 rear to show everyone his new girth guard (!) but then settled down beautifully, so i had been worried about nothing.
sadly no pics of this as mum was gossiping and eating cake!

N27 was in the new indoor, and aside from jogging in the medium walk he did a very sweet test, stayed up and in front of my leg and got a nice square halt at the end.
we ended up on 62.5% for 3rd in the open (5th out of 10 overall) which i thought was a bit mean as there wasnt much to dislike,it just needed more power, oh well....

half an hour for a drink and food break for everyone and then back in to warm up for N37. He was uber chilled this time and gave me some fab work, including some nice trot half pass which i sneaked in when i thought no one was watching!!!

again a really sweet test, and i actually got my leg on and RODE the trot!!! had a teeny jog in the walk again, which i dont really mind, he's quick behind and keen to get on with the job, the relaxation will come, and also did 2 appalling halts!!! but didnt spook in the new arena at all, and was nicely forward again so i was a very happy camper!

got 65.7% and was 2nd in the open, yay!!! (was 5th out of 15 overall).
so a nice handful of points and area festival qualification in the bag if we dont get to the regionals

aaaaaaaaaaaand, Star made a new friend...

and we discovered that he will follow my friends dog up the ramp!!!! (usually we have to blindfold him to load him) which had us all

bizarre horse!!! so ive told my friend she has to come to EVERY show lol!!!

I think i *might* have seen Baydale.....but you (if it was you!) were looking very concentrated so i didnt want to interrupt, so i wasnt being ignorant, sorry. Hope you had a good one.....if it was you......!

out again in two weeks when i WILL ride the canter like a boundingly powerful dressage horse and not a flicky 12hh show pony!!!

creme eggs and purple lucozade for anyone who gets this far!!

entire album of pics is here- http://s131.photobucket.com/albums/p318/littlerubi/vale%20view%20match%2010/?start=0

Well done glad you got some ribbons to bring home & a 2nd is not to be sniffed at seeing as you've not been out for a while
cool.gif

He looks fabulous

blush.gif
.

Im sure you will be getting your Novice qualification very soon.

Fantastic results - especially the second test!! We look forward to more reports in a couple of weeks!

I'll happily take a creme egg off you (think I may be developing an unhealthy addiction!!)

Well done you, looks quite scary in new in door. Its great to know winter training is taking you the right way. (Although its bound to with HP) Amy braved her 1st Advanced with her big boy. Was actually chuffed with 60% as 9 flying changes and a 7 min test comes as a bit of a shock.

Yay!! Well done

Hes looking lush as usual!!!
Tb's rock

grin.gif
is it really nice? how big is it? are they going to (re)start bsja there? xxx

Well done Star!! Clever pony
smile.gif
Following the dog up the ramp made me giggle!

He looks so filled out and growing up bless him. Well done you, onwards and upwards! xxx

Well done, lol at the "showing off" of his new girth guard!

Can I ask a nosey question... why do you wear a showjumpery hat for dressage when I kow you don't normally wear one at all at home, had assumed you'd be a beagler person! Have I missed out on this new DR fashion?

I bet the wearing of the helmet has a lot to do with the "showing off" of the girth guard LOL!!!

You see a lot of GPAs in young horse and novice/elementary classes at BD these days, even by top riders. quite right too!

ask anything
smile.gif

honest answer-fashion.noticed a lot of people wearing them in young horses classes last year and like the look. i think my beagler gives me a moon face lol! have totally gone off it TBH and am contemplating a navy GPA for shows and keeping my grey one for home!

ETA-theres also the issue that whilst i can anticipate my horse and accomodate his antics, i cant do the same for everyone else and all it takes is for 2 over excited youngsters to set sail at the same time and BAM-collision.

thank you for all the compliments, had a well respected trainer tell me today that he was a "class mover" and "couldnt believe he was a TB" so that made me grin even more.
he may never set the world on fire at GP but i just cant help but think he WILL get there as he's got such a fab attitude/work ethic.

DressageCrazy-well done on your result, which regionals will you go to?

Super result, well done you!! Glad someone is flying the flag really high for our exracers in dressage!!
cool.gif

Re; the GPA hats, I simply can't get used to it, and can't understand/believe how it has taken off as a fashion thing in dressage, bring back the beaglers I say!!
tongue.gif

He is a very classy mover Prince33Sp4rkle you should be proud, horses like yours do a huge amount for TB's.

Thanks, i normally go to somerford for summers as it's on my doorstep. Just got the task of getting Medium Petplans now

.

Yay, well done, that's a really good start to the season, you both look great (despite the showjumper hat and lots of dead sheep
tongue.gif
). I thought I might see you but didn't, but if you saw me - huge and v stroppy horse, me with a face like thunder, being equally stroppy - sorry
blush.gif
, I'll meet you another day when I'm in a better mood.
crazy.gif

lol, if it was you baydale i didnt think you looked stroppy! was a very big bay horse......or maybe you have a twin at vale view.....sure we will meet up at some point as i am always there, either competing or grooming for friends as its only 20mins from me. how did your day go?

Yep, very big and very surly today. Somehow managed to get better marks than we deserved - will go and do report now. I'm there again on 27th I think, my last chance before my BE winter BD deal runs out. (yay
