rescue remedy...for you AND flicka. wonderful stuff

another vote here for rescue remedy, it's made by bach flower and is a mixture of herbs that are designed to keep you calm and it works a treat. You can get it in Boots and chemists.

Good luck, I'm sure you will be fine and temember to smile and have fun!

oooo. . . sorry to hijack. . .. can you give it to horses i didnt know that. . .and would you give it to a horse who gets tense if rider does, so if rider and horse take it all should be less tense?

i have used it before and it worked for me

and im sure you will be fine

Dont worry we all go through this, I have been showing for 20 yrs and i still get nervous.
I have my first show in 3 weeks and i am supposed to be doing the beginners WHP and we have only ever jumped 1 cross pole, think i need more practice!
I am sure you will be fine and if not there is always another day and another show.
Good luck to both of you.

yes you can give Rescue remedy to horses- i always buy the spray bottles and then spray onto half an apple and horsey eats it. i then spray some in my mouth and i also suck the pastilles that you can buy. does make me feel calmer!

oooh i might get some
grin.gif

flicka needs calming (:
lol i dont even know what im supposed to wear or anything!

im doing prettiest mare, best ridden pony, and beginners jumping, im only worried about the jumping

ooh and whats minimus?
x

well i think you should wear beige/cream/white joddies with black or brown boots (i presume you are a junior so short joddie boots are fine)- if you get some clips it will keep your jods clipped down and smart. shirt and tie and show jacket if you have one/can borrow one- if not i wouldn't worry...

your pony should be clean and tidy- i presume she has a long mane so wash it with lots of conditioner and put some baby oil in it to make it shiny. oh, and don't forget chalk for any white bits and hoof oil

shes grey

lol her mane isnt long long, its middle length, but we may pull it a bit to tidy up before (:
getting some new jods and boots coz mine leak, yeah im a junior!

what colour tie?
i think im wearing a tweed jacket, and white shirt?
or black jacket, not sure?

and i think im guna do the minimus coz its only £1 and good practice (:
50p actually i think

how much do you give to horses? sorry to threadjack...

you'll be fine i still get nervous before shows though next weekend will only be my 4th outing my my horses 3rd

oh if its not long then get it pulled and plaited up!

if tweed then i'd get a tie that matches your tweed (my tweed is green and brown so i wear a green stock with it)- if blue jacket then i'd say something like red or a pony club tie. if your pony has a coloured browband you can match your tie and hair bobbles to match her
grin.gif

if her tail is white then i recommend so silver shampoo- its for grannys and people with v peroxide blonde hair- its purple and works wonders on white tails

what about plaiting tail? like one of them french plait things!

it depends on how good your plaits are and what time you'll have to leave for the show....personally i'd always rather do them in the morning as if do them the night before i have to sew them in and then put ninja hood on so they don't fall out. i personal;ly couldn't be ar$ed with tail plait but go for it if you are good at them

I would only plait if you really like plaiting, you don't have to for fun local shows.

I used to run a local show with fun classes like prettiest mare and the judges don't normally mind about things like plaiting. Plus it's harder to hold on to the mane when you are jumping if it's plaited!

But if you love plaiting, go ahead - and practice a few times first so you know if she looks better with big fat ones or little skinny ones.

For the showing make sure you either have a plain numnah in a simple colour like black or brown or white, or if you only have bright coloured saddle cloths, whip it off before you go in.

Bright ones are ok for jumping, but are off-putting for the judge in showing classes, even fun ones.

Anyone know if horses would eat the pastille version of the RR??? Sorry to hijack your post BTW but Im trying RR for myself (and maybe horse) next weekend for the stressful dressage part of BE!

you'll be fine
