I am taking my foal to our first show next weekend. Its only a local show and am not really expecting much. I have been doing the basics with him and he seems to be doing quite well ( well for his age ) i just wondered if anyone could give me any tips on what to expect from a ten month old? I have not shown horses for over 15 years so any tips re showing would be appreciated!!!!!!!!! I am only doing the best condition classes and youngstock. Am only taking him to see how he does in the trailer and in a different environment. At the moment i dont expect him to behave that well but is that wrong???

Sorry to ramble on i am nervous already!!!!

I'm not into showing but I expect he will be the same as any horse going to his first show. You are setting your goals at the right level. Firstly to see if he travels alright to the venue & secondly to see if he manages to stay calm once he's there. To be honest I think you are being very realistic & level headed about it. His first outing is a tester & you'll never know how things will be until you do it. Good Luck

Great to get them out early. They see its fun going to show if your not stressed or expection too much.. have fun... Oh and yes he may be little bit naughty, but will get better as time goes on....

the first show my boy went to was when he was 1 1/2 we just went and had a look round, ate some grass and practiced being tied up to the box. ho got bored of the tieing up bit and decided to try load himself back in the box.
