Me and my horse will be doing our first show together in a couple of weeks and I was hoping for some advice on what to wear please. It's only a small local show and the class we are doing is condition and turnout.

As my horse has never been to a show before I though that might be a more relaxed class. I understand we would need to be very tidy so if anyone has any tips for horse turnout also is really appreciate any advice.

You really need to give a bit more info as even for a best condition and turnout class the horse will have to be turned out correctly for it's type, basically everything needs to be as clean as possible, immaculate tack correctly fitted and suitable for the horse, horse turned out suitably for type, so if of hunter, riding horse or similar it should be plaited, trimmed and gleaming with good health, if native or traditional it should be tidied up as to breed standards and again groomed or washed to within an inch of it's life.

You should probably wear a tweed jacket, navy is only correct for show hacks, shirt and tie, cream, beige or yellow jods, long black boots polished until you can see your face in them, spurs if allowed for the type you ride, brown gloves, hair in a bun and or net, velvet hat, carry a simple brown show cane.

It may seem to be a relaxed class but the work involved to prepare will certainly not be!!
 
The class is called condition tack and turn out. Would I need to do anything with her tail? I chose that class as it was the first one so hopefully the area won't be too busy. Either way will be a really good experience for us both.

As she is a native there is no need to plait, wash, condition and brush out tail so it is completely untangled and every hair is able to flow behind her when she moves, sometimes it looks good if you plait the end when it is still damp and leave overnight so it has a lovely natural wave when you let it loose.
 
As said, tack must fit and be on in the correct position. Family ponies tend to get away with the narrow saddles on the neck and nose bands just above the nostrils for some reason but in a turnout class i would expect it to be perfect!
