After taking up riding 3 years ago (despite being very nervous) have had my ups and downs with horses all of which knocked my confidence. I lost all my confidence jumpiing after I was ditched in the middle of a spread by a fairly green cob. In recent months popped a few small jumps but nothing higher than a tiny upright. Had a had a bit of a confidence knocking time hacking as well after a few incidents of dirty spooks, turning on a sixpence and taking off!

Decided this summer to look for a loan horse and found the perfect chap (through a member). He is so chilled out and so honest that today, after spending 15 mins or so in the school, I decided to take him round the fields at the yard for a very short hack. It was FANTASTIC!! He jumped a couple of times at birds and raddits but nothing that worried me. We even had a lovely couple of canters where he was a star pulling up easily and happy to settle back into plod mode!

I LOVE this horse!! (and I feel very happy that I bit the bullet and went out on my own!!)

well done to you, its a hard thing to actually get the nerve to go out on your own first time, I have only done it once and rely on going out with my mates, silly really as its all in my head.

Well done, it takes a great deal of courage to do what to some are small things, but to me and you they are HUGE!!
Keep it up and go for it again.

how cute just came across this! so glad he was a good boy, he hasnt been out on his own for a while but obviously found the confidence in you to be happy enough! Its so cute - he did exactly this job for me last year and gave me my confidence back too. He does love a hack doesnt he! Hes such a plod in canter when you are out on your own, its a case of pony club kick all the way!

xx
