Hello. My green mare and I have been doing a few forest rides (four) and it seems we have found something we both like. We were doing flatwork but after a few issues I lost my nerve schooling in the arena. I was set to loan her when we did our first outing with a friend and it went great. Anyway, we tried a pleasure ride yesterday and it went great. I even conquered my canter fear, several times lol.
My hacking buddy if off on holiday at the end of the month for two weeks but I don't want to lose momentum. There is another pleasure ride while she's away that I'd love to tackle. It would be our sixth forest outing so my wee mare should be getting the hang of it by then. And my hubby can come to lend a hand. Would I be mad to do one alone? I want to start CTRs next year so we'll have to go alone at some point, and I intend to hack alone a few times before we go.
I think it would be a massive boost for both of us if we did it, and I feel strangely safe riding her out on trails.
any advice or tips would be great.
oh, before you suggest it, I don't really have anyone to go with me who I would feel comfortable enough with.
Thanks.

Lots of people do them alone! :)

I have a pony that is seriously nappy on his own, even in his third season of CTRs, and it's a real pain being dependent on having a ride partner, especially as the distances get longer and there are fewer entries. So I think your plan sounds very sensible! :)
