First time clip

So this week im clipping my wee horse for the first time, im fine clipping but shes never been clipped before, and its the first time ive ever clipped a horse thats not been clipped before lol... sedation is NOT an option.. words of encouragment pleeeeease lol!

Friend had great success desensitising a young pony using an electric toothbrush for a few days before trying the clippers!

try just whirring them around the horse for a bit first to desensitise, but if worst comes to worse and you dont want to sedate how about twitching?

just take it easy, don't push her out of her comfort zone - there's no rush! better to take an age than to have to give up or scare her.

I'm in the same position with my lad and I've been gently introducing them to him. He's ok with me running them over his body now but I wouldn't say he was entirely happy about it.. But I'm going to keep doing something with him every day for the next few weeks and I'll then get the overalls out!!
