And i thought I was riding fit LOL.

took my pony out hunting yesterday for the first time. had a fantastic day, not too fast (so I'm told) which was great as I didn't want to go crazy on my first time but we had some super gallops. there were lots of friendly people out - although my friend's pointer did fetch my pony a crack on the knee when we were standing around at one point. My fault for getting too close but we were very crowded...

I am stiff as anything today, my shoulders are aching loads. Polly loved it, she's obivously been before but she likes to be at the front. I started off keeping her well back thinking that if she did take off I'd have some time to pull her up but she was impossible even in her kimberwick and pulled like a train. After a bit though I discovered if she was up the front she stopped pulling so I just took a deep breath and braved it. My arms are killing though now!

I was so terrified of doing something stupid but actually it was very straightforward and the master was great at telling everyone what was expected of them. [phew].

Pony adored it, she was watching the hounds like a hawk clearly trying to figure out where they were going! I thought she'd be a nightmare at the standing around bits but apart from a few excited bunny hop rears she was good as gold. Cant wait to go again.

I went out with Four Burrow Hunt for the 1st time on Boxing Day and I loved it!! I took my 4 year old and he was an angel even when he had horses rammed up his backside LOL!! I definately want to go again!! I think im a hunting addict now!!!

I'm glad you had a good first experience! My horse is off with my sister on Saturday, for the first time in 2 seasons. She's hunted since she was very young in Ireland, and got ridiculously excited when someone's hunting horn ringtone went off - I'm glad she remembers LOL, but I don't think I will be too envious of my sister at first.

Who were you out with?

Its funny, mine had been hunting before as well but not for a couple of years... she was still surprisingly calm though. I think she'd remebered the format, not just the galloping bits but the standing around bits as well

Hopefully, yours will be the same. good luck to your sister tho!

thanks everyone, the meet leaves from my yard in a few weeks so I'll be going out again then.

Glad you had a great time and both came home safe and sound - I'm hopefully going again on Saturday, getting excited and worried about it already
