Hi,

I would really like to give hunting a go and finally feel brave enough to go and wondered if anyone could recommend a hunt for me too go with for my first time? I'm situated in the Bredhurst Kent area. My first time out I'd like to avoided jumping anything if that's even possible?

And roughly what does it cost to go hunting for the day?

Thanks

I would guess that your nearest packs are West Street Tickham or Ashford Valley, but do check out this page from the MFHA.

Once you have identified your local pack, give the secretary a ring (http://www.bailyshuntingdirectory.com/directory/) and ask for some advice about whether they are organising a newcomers' day or for meets that would be good for novices. The vast majority of hunts have a group of people that never leave the ground and know the way round obstacles.

Assuming you have riding kit (breeches, long boots, shirt and tie, hat and tweed jacket for autumn hunting or dark coat, white stock, hat, breeches, boots for main season) then the outlay will be the cap. This varies from pack to pack and on your age. Autumn hunting is around £15-20, but main season can be anything from £50-£100 plus for a smart pack. Discounts are usually significant for children or under 25s.
