I am extremely keen to hunt my 15.2hh gelding. he is very calm and sensible and has hunted in ireland before we got him
being at school most weeks i havn't made it out cubbing and was told by my pony club DC to go to the childrens meet. problem is, me being one of the only riders in our school, i have to attend team sj the day before. "Dash" is very fit and i was thinking we could go to the meet for just an hour or so...

any advice pleaseee!!

my mum gets a bit protective and has heard horrid accidents about hunting so refuses to let anyone else ride him!
thanks

There must still be some cubbing left-the opening meet's not normally until the beginning of November, so try to go if possible. If not, don't go to the opening meet as it could be a bit 'mad' with lots of people who do not normally go out. Try and do a mid week meet when it will be quieter, ring the Sec and explain you are new, they might assign someone to 'keep an eye on you'. What about half-term? It wouldn't hurt the pony to go hunting the day after sj as he might not be so wired, put a green ribbon (gaffer tape is best) on your tale, don't ride on the crops, wear your pc badge, smile and have fun. Take a mobile phone and a snack, leave a flask in the trailer/lorry. Some people like soup after. (In the days before mobile phones we used to have to take money for the phone box though God knows where you'd have found one of those out on the moors)!
