I'm going out hunting for the first time ever on 3rd December with the Ledbury - I already feel sick just thinking about it I am so nervous

The only jacket I have is a tweed one, will I be OK wearing this with cream breeches and black boots? Also does anyone know how much the Ledbury's cap is for first-timers?

Thanks!

Your attire will be fine either wear a shirt & tie or a coloured stock. No idea on the cap I am affraid.

Relax & enjoy your self. I'm sure that will naturally happen after the Meet & first field!

Have fun & Kick On

If I come out with you I'll be in tweed too (with a scrumptious yellowy stock that goes really well with my jacket which I couldn't stop admiring on saturday! :smirk:), so we can stick out like sore thumbs together!
Email Helen Smith (email addy on the Ledbury website) and ask her about the cap and anything else you want to know, she's lovely :) She'll be getting an email from me too, saying that I'm an impoverished student these days and would she possibly let me come for a reduced cap :o

In that case you are definitely coming too LOL (keep forgetting no smilies in this forum...) I will send Helen an e-mail now.

Anything else I need to know? J needs to be plaited, no brushing boots, no studs....???

I never stud up anyway , but will be booted all round as I'm not sure how many jumps we'll make it over rather than through, LMAO!

If you're super nervous you can do my plaiting to distract yourself... :p

PMSL - would love to volunteer but unfortunately I cannot plait to save my life, and will be asking someone at the yard to do Josh for me LOL! I am going for the hip flask option I think, then falling asleep in the hay barn when I get back to the yard in a drunken stupor....

Thank you! Oh no, I have admitted publicly that I am going now, so I can't get out of it....perhaps he will lose a shoe the day before?!! But I know I will enjoy it once I am out there

Don't think Josh would look quite right hogged - I really must learn to plait, I had to pay someone to do it for all my events this year LOL

I went hunting for the first time a couple of weeks ago and I was as nervous as you sound but I had a fantastic time and was really impressed with how well behaved my horse was (and bold - normally he is a wimp!)

Your attire sounds fine. Recommend layers underneath your shirt and warm gloves. Also might be worth putting a chocolate bar or small snack in your jacket pocket if you are going to be out for a long time. Also having been once I might take a hip flask next time!!!

I didn't stud up but booted up - used pull on over reach boots and taped my front and back boots on so he couldn't lose them. I also didn't plait up and there were people there who did and who didn't

Have fun! x

Thank you :) - especially for the bit about not plaiting! I will make sure I tape his boots on, and will remember to put a t-shirt or similar under my shirt (that wouldn't have occured to me, so thanks for that as well!) Plus my trusty stand-by of a mars bar in my pocket - concentrated calories :)
