Entered for Semer in Suffolk, in early November. Going practising next weekend at Ickworth Park, just to see how the horses are in our running order. But what I would love to know is anyones top tips. Other than obvious of staying on!

Oh, you are so lucky - my poorlie pony is broken so no team chasing for me until 2009 :-(

Main piece of advice I have is, unless you have a careless horse (in which case you presumably wouldn't be teamchasing anyway) just trust your horse and don't be tempted to haul at him/her if you think they are getting too close to the horse in front. They always seem to sort it out and if you start pulling it can distract them, but left to their own devices (particularly if you adopt a bit of a hunting seat) they tend to stay upright.

We always try to agree a running order and the lines we will take - we also try to agree a signal to stop if anyone is in real trouble. We also agree a signal to keep going if someone falls or has problems but doesn't need the rest of the team to wait for them.

My ultimate top tip is to go to the beer tent and have a shot of whisky between walking the course and getting on - you feel so much braver afterwards.

Have a fantastic time!

Some awesome tips, thanks. The horse supposed to go first is a 14.3 pony, which is very fast. My horse is very quick and careful with his feet, so think it will really help with his eventing, as can be a little too careful sometimes, and I can be known for being too precious with him. So a winter of hunting, BSJA and hopefully more teamchasing will ensue. Also are there any other teamchases in East Anglia?

I'm sure you'll love it!!

what class are you going in?

No advise other than enjoy! Oh and don't stop if your 4th member falls off - carry on!

We are doing the 3ft 3 Novice Bogey time class. Our thoughts are we didn't want to go like a bat out of hell and scare us and the horseson our first time. I think my main problem will be holding my horse while I am giggling and getting covered in mud.

Tehe just make sure u can see over the hedges!!
