He was a star. See, I'm back in to eventing speak already

Went to MKEC yesterday to find out how he was over proper XC fences.
Warmed up nicely despite a lot of horses around. Popped a small hanging log a couple of times then on to the course proper.
Started with some little tyres, no problem. The tried the smaller phes feederthen the biger one then the pallisade next to them. All no problem. You have to know MKEC XC for this to make sense.
Then over the double of logs and up to the log ditch combi.
he had a good look at the ditch on approach then popped over it. Tried the log then ditch, again no problem.
The new(ish) octagon proved a little interesting, he really didn't have a clue what he was supposed to do at it. Finally got the idea that he had to jump up on to it and we were off.
From then on jumping on or off was easy. Popped a few fences on our way down to the water including the revamped quarry, straight in and straight out

The water made his eyes pop out but only took a few seconds before he carefully walked in and had a paddle around. Then tried trotting in, no hesitation so tried cantering in, again no hesitation so off to the small step in. Straight don first attempt without a look. He really seem to be enjoying playing in the water but it was bloody freezing.
In for a penny so to speak and tried the 2 styeps down in to water and out over step. Straight through!!!
Finished off with the gnome house and steps up. Well I had planned to but then the rolltop, drop, rolltop just kept calling to me so we had to give it a go. First time he burried himself in the bottom of the first rolltop, went to jump it form standstill which I wasn't about to let happen (too big). Second approach i got him to stand off it a bit and through we went.

All in all an unbelieveable first session. He stayed calm throughout and gave his all. Sure we had a few stops but only because he needed to work out what to do. Never more than 1 stop at any fence and most jumped without any stops.
Couldn't be more pleased with him. Roll-on MK1

That might require you to feel very ill again as likely to be thurs or fri next week. Might play dressage at MKEC in the morning then have a trundle round the xc course afterwards.

YES I did say dressage

If you need a groom, just shout !

Always need grooms, especially ones that don't disappear to look round the stalls just when you need them or decide quarter marks would look really nice when you have ten minutes before xc start time and horse not even tacked up.
