First time XC schooling - Rosamund Green?

I want to take my pony to our first Hunter Trials on 1st April so thought I'd better get an XC lesson before we go.
Pony is sensible and very honest and capable of jumping 2'9" (poles) but I'm doing the 2'3" course to break me in gently! (pony has doen xc before - I haven't)
I am thinking of getting an XC lesson at Rosamund Green - will I be a fish out of water there (ie are they geared up for riders who are capable of much more!) or will I be able to get something good out of it?
Any comments on Robin Dumas as a teacher - is he ok with novicey numpties?!
 
I would not go to Rosamund unless I was happily doing intro/PN level as the jumps are all really designed for that level and above.
 
Robin won't let you on the XC if he doesn't think you are good enough and you have a lesson with him. They don't really cater for the heights you are looking at - I'm doing a clinic there soon and you have to be PN (BE100) level to do it. He's to the point, and has an excellent reputation, but is, perhaps, not to everyone's taste.

It would not be my first choice for what you are looking for. I know the website says they start at 2ft but most of their stuff is 1m+

Where are you? I can think of other places to try but it depends which side of Rosamund you are!

This - i felt uncomfortable being a BE90 rider there. there are plenty of jumps he will get you going over and over again till its perfect, but if your looking to have a good confident lesson before going out for you first time this probably isnt the place.

i really rate robin as an instructor.. had him for a while.. however .. yes.. he is too the point :)

try downlands or warminster saddle club is good for the heights you would be looking at,..

Problem is it's the WSC hunter trial I want to go to and I don't think the course is available to hire until after the event (understandably). But I will ask.
Whenever I look on the Downlands website it says the course is closed but I'll give them a ring.
Thanks for the opinions - I didn't want to turn up and look totally out of place (and get nothing from it)
 
If it's not too far from you, Pontispool looks like it is open and has plenty of small stuff to jump. Just take care as they do not fix all of their portables.
 
I'd recommend Rabson Manor as a first time xc schooling place. It has absolutely everything you could meet on a xc and loads of small fences. Its out near Avebury but in my opinion is well worth the extra travelling distance.
 
Well I've just e-mailed my old WSC instructor to see if a lesson over there is possible.
I now just have to call back Robin Dumas and say that while I'm sure he and his jumps are lovely maybe I was being a bit ambitious when I enquired earlier.
 
I don't think the fences at Marston Equestrian are fixed and there is little variety - good for a blast round the fields & to pop a few jumps but at £25 too expensive for what is there.

SL & Pontispool are better options with lots of variety, Downlands is also good - don't know about Leyland Court.
