Hey all. After a few weeks of practice loading it is now time to be taking the boy out on his first trip. I was supposed to take him at the weekend but postponed due to the awful weather and unsafe driving conditions. Problem is that I don't have many daylight hours during the week and want to get him out at least once when it is light before the poor fella has to brave the dark. Basically I am looking for any tips to make this journey nicer, more comfortable and maybe even fun for him. Also, he is a 17'2 in a Richardson Supreme Grande - should I take the middle partition out or leave it in cause if I take it out I don't have a breast bar.....

Thanks!

If you do not have a full length breast bar you MUST leave the partition in. I am not bothered about breach bars but breast bars are an absolute must. Good luck

Good luck. I would make sure your boy has a treat when he goes in a a nice haynet all ready for him. Be really calm and as chilled as possible, praise him lots when he goes in and when you come back from your trip, don't rush to get him out. Take your time and act as if it is completely normal, then get him out really slowly. I remember it well!!! But I am now a veteran tower and my girl has always been really good (apart from one blip when she slipped on the ramp when it was wet and fell on her knees and then it took a bit of careful retraining until she was fine again).

Drive as if you don't have brakes, use your gears and dont let anybody else on the road intimidate you. If you get a huge line of traffic behind you dont get panicked, just find somewhere safe to pull off the road a little and let them get past (you'll be lucky if one in ten thanks you, but hey ho!).

Good luck!
