I’m starting this thread because I’m actually doing something for a change!
We are off to a fun dressage show (more like a day of test riding clinics because you get extra judge feedback)
We‘ve not competed in over a year, we went back to basics (still lots of basics to work on!) and have only recently got to a point where I feel we are ready to strut our stuff again.

Good luck!

we're doing something!!! its been a while!

Ben came home from loan a few weeks ago. He's been a companion pony for a while. He's now nanny to my to babies which he is amazing at.

A friend offered a space on her lorry to a show this weekend, so Ben is off to his first ever in hand show at 11yrs old. We're not worried about rossettes we're just going for a nice day out. Travelling with a friend onboard and then coming home to the same place, which for Ben has never happened before so hoping he has a nice experience and it isn't to overwhelming for the nervous little man. Prep has started about a week ago with mane trimming etc. But everything has to be done bit by bit to not frighten him.

Hope everyone has fun in the lovely weather.

Busy week ahead for us…
Blue is out at a local UA on Saturday, then BD with Jack Sunday to see if we can get those final points for regionals.

Probably tempting fate here 😅 but loading practice is starting to pay off with Jack - he’s started loading himself now and isn’t in so much of a rush to run back down the ramp 🥳

I’m taking Beau and his loaner out to a lesson Monday and finally, I’m taking Cas to have another bash at A105 on Friday before we step up to PSG at the end of the month.

Raz is still about 5 weeks away from coming back into work after his accident but it looks like it’s healing well so 🤞🏻

Have a good weekend, everyone ☺️

Tomorrow I’m hacking out with my coach as a baby sitter for her young horse, which will be lovely. We always have a good chat!

Sunday flatwork at home, we are training hard for a comp in a few weeks. Then Sunday we have a sj and Xc lesson at riding club.

Monday is a public holiday, but it’s looking very wet so we will wait and see if I ride!

More hacking 😅 new hacking buddy Friday. Went out in a big group today which usually means she gets very keen and tries to canter on the spot but she was fab, went in the school for 10 minutes afterwards and she was like a different pony to our lesson yesterday, let me put my leg on without shooting forward or getting anxious and made some baby efforts at going side ways 😆

Went xc schooling yesterday, too late to add to last weekend.
Trec later this afternoon in adjacent yard, sj with fab trainer tomorrow.
Steady hack Saturday and then long hack further afield is potentially on the cards for Sunday.
That said, I was exhausted yesterday evening, so will take care not to overdo things.

Good luck to those competing, have fun everyone 😊

Tomorrow is a trip to the country park with a friend. We will start with hacking then go do some schooling on the field. I like to hack for an hour or so first, so they buddy up, then split up when schooling. I dare say we will have a pop or two and a splash through the water.

Not got other plans, I have just retired and don't seem to have as much extra time as I thought! But then, I am also going through the house, took 5 sacks of clothes to charity today. I find sorting stuff time consuming and exhausting.

I’m borrowing a horse for the weekend. Nova is still enjoying a well-deserved holiday, so I’ve been offered the big Mr Perfect of the yard (we have 2 - a big one and a little one). So I think I’m going to go for a hack with another livery on Saturday - it will be good to go on a longish one with a few canters where ground permits as it’s been ages since I’ve done that.

Sunday, I think I’m going to Eland to watch/help a friend with two of my other friends. So that will be fun. I definitely do enjoy eventing days out when I’m not riding!

I’ve realised how much of my life is about horse activities! Feels odd to be seeing posts about events, activities etc and not being able to plan anything. I’m getting better but it’s very slow going. I’m missing seeing the horses and hoping I’ll feel up for a visit sometime soon. (I fell off last week at camp and have hurt my ribs/side).

Good luck to everyone getting out and about!

No RDA this week as it's half term but...I am riding! It's been a good month since I last sat on a horse. My last two rides weren't great - one on share horse when I probably shouldn't have got on and promptly hopped off when I realised I really did need to be out of that situation, and the other at the RS which I left feeling deflated having realised quite how much my confidence had gone down and feeling my instructor had given up on me.

The break has helped, I have missed riding, and am looking forward to trying a new RS tomorrow. I have been following along in their FB group and seeing videos from various clients, including new ones, all sounding really positive and consistently feeding back their progress around confidence. The horses all look fabulous and I just can't wait to give it a go and report back here after :D

Off to do a nice little clear round working hunter on Sunday at a local RC just for some miles on the clock. Chickened out last weekend so I’m going to push myself to do it this weekend! No pressure with clear round which I like, xc field is open on my yard now and has been set up where the ground is fairly soft so I’m going to use it on Saturday evening before it dries up and hardens too much.

Good luck everyone

Had the most fab lesson along with a friend from rc, finished off by jumping round a 12 fence mostly 75 or more course in the huge arena including wide water tray with poles to 70 over the top as a parallel.
B didn't falter at all tho did balloon a couple that were just about 80 with full bright boards under.
Came away v tired but blooming happy 😊

We did our ride in the country park. It is mainly for hacking with the odd pop. It was one of days that childhood dreams are made of. 2 beautiful horses, 2 fun people, sunny day, no pressure.

I did a short vid of my 2 fave fences. Trot and pop!

D felt almost tired on our hack today but perked up when she went in front through the woods for the first time then power marched home like a bouncy ball. She spooked at a rock with some bird poop on, tried to chase the tractor (of which there were 4 with big rattling trailers full of silage and a thresher) and tried to chase a women with her wheelie bin. It's a odd bit entertaining reaction to scary things 🤣 I haven't quite got the hang of taking pics whilst on board.

We popped Bo on the trailer and travelled all of 7 minutes or so to the Trans Pennine Trail!

Had a fantastic 5 mile hack including lots of trotting and cantering. He was pulling like a train to begin with but settles much more quickly in new situations now.

Just an absolutely lovely morning. 😊

Working tomorrow, then hacking out from home on Sunday.
