I tried on my new cavallos today, and just wondered about the fit of them. He's certainly happier on gravel in them on them short test walk I did, but in trot he's rather hackney-esque in his movement! Will this improve as he's gets used to them? Do they look ok fit wise, they're a bit gappy at the top, but the hoof size seems pretty snug.

Excuse the mud and general filth!

They look fine. On my horse they are also very 'gappy' at the top but have stayed on really well so far. He should get used to the feel of them and stop exaggerating his trot :) My boy loves them now for the comfort they bring!

I quite liked his trot lol, but he looked a bit confused. Taking him for a short walk hack tmrw weather permitting. Thanks for replying, just wanted to make sure as I have no experience with riding in boots, and no friends that do either :)

That probably makes sense!

Does anyone have any tips for scrubbing./cleaning the feet to keep on top of thrush? I've been scrubbing with hibiscrub once a week, but I tore a ligament over my SI joint in October, and I keep re damaging it by leaning over for long periods, is there anything I can slosh over quickly or a different method. Horse can be annoying if made to stand in buckets, he's not scared, just doesn't keep still and knocks them over etc!

You could try spraying with dilute Milton (in one of those plastic houseplant spray bottles). Give the inside of your hoof boots a good clean after use as well to get rid of any nasties.

Feet miltoned and horse happy. Had my first hack today in his trainers, and he was very bouncy and high stepping, felt like a real Spanish horse for once, so high stepping a random dog walker commented on it :and

Hopefully it will settle down, main thing is he's happy and not footy :)
