I'm looking at buying the Fitbit Flex 2 as I do lots of swimming / cycling / running and its seems like the best all rounder without spending a fortune.

I was wondering if anyone has any reviews of it... ? Also any reviews specifically in relation to riding with it.

Thanks :)

I have a flex and take it off to ride as it logs horses step as your own. It is possible to log horse riding as an activity but it's a general calories rarer than accurate.

Am looking into a different one that monitors heart rate too for more accurate calorie burn but apparently you have to change activity to 'driving' to remove the steps but it still uses your heart rate to estimate burn I think

I love my fitbit flex 2 and wear it all the time. I've notice a definite improvement in my health since I got it! I have moment reminders on during my working hours as sometimes I could find myself literally sitting at the desk typing for hours on end! I know on average how many steps a day I do on a non riding day and I only ride a few days a week so I can work out if I've still walked/exercised enough. I'm not overly fussed about my heart rate or calories burnt what I am interested in is the miles/steps I'm doing and the sleep tracker.

Thanks for the feedback - to be fair thats all I need it for really. Plus just a bit of extra motivation!

I didn't realise you can log horse riding as an activity - good to know!

I think I am going to take the plunge and get one. Thanks guys!!

I have the charge 2 and I love it. I got it as it works alongside my health insurance and completing a certain amount of steps entitles me to free cinema tickets and other treats. It has really given me an awareness of my overall health. The sleep tracker isn't very accurate I don't think.

I didn't realise it logged riding, how do you do that? Riding doesn't seem to appear on the list for me

Free cinema tickets? I must look into this!

I find the sleep tracker fairly accurate. I'm not a great sleeper and it's always pretty much spot on when I have awake tossing and turning. Find it quite interesting

I have the Charge HR, I love it and have worn it non-stop. I like the added motivation of constantly trying to log more steps than my friends! I also like how it pops up with little awards because you've walked 1,997 miles (Which apparently is the length of walking across India! :) ) or hit personal bests in stairs climbed or steps walked.

It does log "steps" when I ride, as it mistakes the horses steps for mine and a vigorous groom of the horse or the dog adds steps so it is a bit cheaty! But I record the time I get on and stop it when I get off and look at how many calories I've burnt or what my heart rate is during the exercise. You can also use it to map your hacks!

All you riders with Fitbits need to download Drivebit. Very easy, free app but it links to your FB and will stop the bumps whilst driving a car logging as steps but still logs the calorie burn. You just have to remember to press start and finish at the appropriate times. Similarly to can use it for riding but do log horseback riding as a special activity afterwards because you earn more calories for that than driving! FB used to have horseriding itemised into walking, trotting and cantering but they grouped it all into one now so it's a bit more vague.

Definite yes from me :)

I use a fitbit HR and I bought my other half a fitibit surge for his birthday last year... they are extremely motivating and we have both lost weight and got much fitter since having them.

I also keep mine on for schooling and competitions if I can and it's interesting to see how much my heart rate goes up (or not!) and how many calories you burn within say a dressage test. I also found the stopwatch function useful in; accurately timing lunging sessions/horse walker sessions and for walking XC courses as it gives you distance traveled, calories within that time etc.

I've got a Garmin Vivosmart HR+. It was a Christmas present but I love it. I log all my riding as an "other" activity so I can get the gps of a hack and it's increases the accuracy on the HR monitoring. Very interesting stats come out of it if you're geeky like me.
OP - if you're a swimmer check very carefully whether your preferred fitness tracker is waterproof. Many of them aren't due to their usb port chargers. I don't particularly swim but I don't like having to remember to take my watch off if the horse needs a hose off so hubby made sure mine was.

This thread is a great help, as I had a Fitbit charge 2 for Christmas and I have been very disappointed as the steps it counts are so very unrealistic, it seems my mistake is leaving it on and expecting it to know what to log as steps. Maybe I won't throw it out the window after all.

Just bought the Charge 2 and find it uncomfortable and cumbersome. My son has just bought a Yamay tracker for less than 30 pound, its much more comfortable and does most of what the Fitbit does.
I would have gone for this one had I seen it before I bought the Fitbit.

I can't really comment on the Fitbit as I've also got the Garmin and I love it. Definitely check the Fitbit is waterproof though as most of them are only water resistant.
