Morning all,

Is it possible that as a horse gets fitter it can become a right pain in the ass??? my mare is getting fitter everyday and over the past few days shes spooking at nothing more and more and evading the bit more and more. she will be fine one min and then just leap and spook at bugger all and just chews and chews and generally messing around with her bit. teeth have been done in April and due to be done in Oct but ive had a feel and cant see or feel any thing unsual (not that im a dentist) and she had a new fitted saddle a few months ago and back is fine.
 
Hell yes! am having the same problems! My suggestion is just be really really firm about what you want - am having to remind myself of this as my youngster is taking the P a bit at the mo. We've been working really hard and she is feeling fitter and stronger than ever and is therefore deciding that she can question my commands. Great. Come back fat lazy horse, all is forgiven!
 
Yes, mine is the same constantly taking the mick. One min a lazy so and so the next flying off with me around the school
 
ah its soo annoying caz shes spooking at el nothingo i dont know whether to give her a slap for taking the mick or pet her so she clams down. so im just riding really forward and growling at her but rewarding her too. yes bring back the un fit happy hack!! lol
 
well shes fed 2 level round scoops of happy hoof and 1 scoop of h&P nuts and magic calmer a day (2 feeds) she looks good tho! but i wouldnt have thought thats was anything that would send her loopy? althought being a tb i have to watch what i feed her as shes soooo fizzy
