I thought before going up in the bit stakes with twig i would try nosebands so last weekend I've bought myself a full size kincade cheapo one (will upgrade to a nice one if it works) trouble is I cant seem to get the buckle were you do it up away from her lips? Is this something I'm doing wrong or is it just a crappy grackle I have bought? I do have it fitted pretty high up - get paranoid about obstructing her breathing!!!

I had a cheapy kincade mexican grackle and had exactly the same problem! Ended up taking it to the cobblers and he shortened one of the straps a few inches and now the buckle sits nicely under the chin

Only a few quid so might be worth getting it done?

i find all grackles are like that, whenever I find one that is different I tend to buy it in a hurry. I like mine to buckle up in sort of the same place a flash buckle would sit, just under the cross over on the front, rather than around the mouth or under the chin. But that's just personal preference. I think if you're struggling it'd be worth having one made.

I had a kincade one years ago and it never looked right and didn't make a differance. now have one by a saddler called micheal marren from cheshire and its great ! think the whole bridle with reins cost £90 ish worth every penny . Oh and its make a real differance to my boy he was in a flash but is much better in the grackle. can pm you the saddlers number is you want.

Hate to say it but my Kincade grackle has packed it in after about 6 months

! (it cracked where the buckles went) But used to hate how it did up on his lip...
