Please can you help with me with a problem

My 16.2 horse has a long back which means she fits 6ft 9 rugs (from measuring chest to tail minus 4" - as from horsewear website). These are slipping back and rubbing shoulders. If i do them up tight there is no room for her to move and they gape at the neck if i do them loose they re ok for a bit then they slip back and rub :(

I have several different makes weatherbeeta (seems to fit neck but gets a bit tight around shoulders), masta (no room to move too tight around the shoulders), mark todd (seem to fit reasonably) and premier equine (new rug slips back).

Nylon lined are better than cotton / fly rugs as they move easier.

Any tips to help prevent rubbing and slipping would be appreciated as I cannot aford change her wardrobe.

I have found all the makes that you mention to be cut quite big around the neck. this makes them a good fit for big chested/shouldered types. However if your mare is finer or has slim shoulders they will just be too big. :(

I use Horseware (Rhino, Rambo or Amigo) or Bucas with my narrow, fine built horses. I have found that Horseware comes up smaller than most of the other makes so she has a size up from what she needs with Bucas.

^6ft Horseware looking a little short and not really covering her bottom!

Sorry. :(
The only thing that I can think of that you try, is using a Bossy's Bib under her rugs. It wont change the fit but it will make it more comfortable (as you can wash them regularly so you don't get a build up of grease/sweat) and should stop any rubs from forming.
