I've only just been able to get back to being able to post on the forum!

I saw a post last week about a forum member finally being able to get back on her horse again after injury ( congratulations by the way and wish you all the best), and there was apicture of the pony in a neue schuele bit.

To be it looked back to front, as it did to some other people, but when commented they were corrected and apparently thats the correct way.I can't find the post again to reply to it, but it just looks so strange and I can't seem to get my head around it!

If it is correct, I have been riding in mine wrong for some time! So the curve of the mouth piece actaully goes the opposite way to a normal snaffle? Or am I completely mistaken?

Confused!

The bit in the photo was a neue schule verbindend, it looks a bit strange from the outside as the initial curve looks back to front but once in the mouth it curves in a more conventional way. All neue schule bits should be fitted with the arrow on the left facing forward.

Sorry to gate crash the thread, but I was rather hoping this was about measuring the NS bits rather than the direction. If I was to order a verbindend (which I am considering trying), should I order the same size as his current bit? Hope some of you more knowledgeable people can tell me. Thanks. :)

My verbindends are 1/4 - 1/2 inch bigger than my other snaffles.

Ohhhhh I see, I have a team-up loose ring so was quite confused!!

Heres the original post for anybody who wants to see where I got the confusion from!

I've gone up 1/4 inch in the verbindend as it's quite curved. The 5.75 fits my 5.5 horse perfectly.

Thanks both - that's what I had read somewhere, but thought I would check with 'real' online people! I'll order from the bit bank so at least I can send it back if it isn't right. :) x

Hey guys that was my thread! I think you've found it now!! :)

My bit is a verbidend and i have it in 1/4 size bigger than a usual snaffle if thats any help to anyone!! I did lots of searching as when i first got it i also thought it was on wrong but apprently the arrow faces forward away from the horse on the left hand side!! He goes lovely in it or at least did when he was in full work!!! :D the neue schule website is quite helpful :)
