Surely the basic principles when fitting treeless or treed saddles are the same. No part of the saddle should touch the spine, the weight bearing should be spread over as big an area as possible and no pressure points?
Only asking as a friend tried a treeless in my horse which was touching her withers and had no padding underneath at all. She just used a polypad. I said I wasn't happy with the fit and she couldn't use it. Her reply was you obviously don't know how to fit a treeless! She didn't ride as she can't ride in treed saddles.

Depends on the saddle and its make.

They usually depend on a specific padding system and often use shims to ensure the saddle balance is correct and to get the spine clearance etc.

I use Solution saddles, and adapt the saddle for each horse with different shims and pads.

Exactly what we do.
